Bishops Castle 5 2013 - Enter the Dragon
First topic message reminder :
To allow time for you guys & gals to save beer tokens & build up enough Brownie points etc a date of Saturday 8th June has been decided for BC5.
As usual the ride will be centered around Shropshire & Wales & peeps are welcome to join for just the rideout or to B&B/camp for both the Friday & Saturday nights with food in the local hostelries which will be announced in due course.
B&B's are aplenty & most will take a booking in advance without requiring payment untill the weekend in question so its always a good idea to book early as last year it got very busy with a local wedding taking up some of the B&B's we normally use.
Below is a link to the main places to stay all within easy walking distance & please just ask if we can offer any help or advice, The Claremont also have as well as B&B a property which can be shared by a number of peeps who may wish to reduce costs by sharing & if I remember correctly a garage they have allowed us to use for the bikes in the past.
The Foxholes Camp site have a Bunk house, Static Caravan & Camping available.
Thanks Nick & Ellie

Re: Bishops Castle 5 2013 - Enter the Dragon
Home safe and sound, can't fault the weekend, superb roads, fantastic weather, the ride the food the refreshments, couldn't have been any better, even Dave Nutt defiling a clown couldn't put a damper on the weekend, (though its rumoured the clown had a damp patch)!!
Really great to meet old friends and make some new ones, special thanks have to go to Nick and Ellie, guys you played a blinder and couldn't have done anything to make it any better and BC6 will have a lot to live up to, stevecat and Cheshirecat (Kev) thanks for keeping the Ecocabin massive fed and to everyone who turned up to make it such a wonderful weekend.
Right I'm off to prepare my opening speech for the inaugural 'Clown No Still Means No Dave' rally

Back safe sound and sound couple of hours ago, after a gruelling forty mile slog home on glorious roads and basking in warming sunshine...
Another brilliant weekend: Great roads, great weather, great beer, the salads were amazing and the Thundercat forum does it again!
Thanks to all who attended and a big thanks to Nick and Ellie as principle organisers.
Review and pics will be ready in the next few days...
Meanwhile some music:

Re: Bishops Castle 5 2013 - Enter the Dragon
Just back home after 171 miles home, rode in a group from bc with Paul (weasely) and bob tailing off from the main group after our lunch stop at tinton (I think that's how it's spelt) abbey.
Big thanks to Steve for leading up and then bob for the second part.
As with other big thanks to nick and Ellie for organising the ride out and everything was a cracker!
As for the bouncy castle incident... I don't think I'll ever be allowed into a circus tent again...
Even though its all nick fault as it was his idea ahaha

Re: Bishops Castle 5 2013 - Enter the Dragon
Got home about 20 minutes ago; nice leisurely bimble home with SteveCat and the southern posse, then a Bobh-led splinter group near the end.
As they all said above, what a perfect weekend. Good roads, good weather and good humour. Hats off to Mr & Mrs Ellie for great organisation. Also to to SteveCat for the majority of the tail-ending, plus the others who took a turn at that. Well done to all who came for (largely) following the rules and keeping the group together and safe.
There's lovely, isn't it?!

As Nick says, we're home and sorted & just opened a bottle of wine.
Thanks everyone for the most amazing weekend, without you all it would just be a bimble round Wales.
Just a few snaps...
Tony ACTUALLY having a salad!!!
Tony and his not so light salad...

Re: Bishops Castle 5 2013 - Enter the Dragon
Hey guys, clocked in at 230 via txt to Dave (Mr nutt) ,after leaving the guys at the old severn bridge bridge, got a healthy 120mph blast under my belt. no one home so went for another blast lol.
officially clocking in to thank Nick & Ellie for organising BC5 and making my dreams come true of riding Aber and Snowdon paths as well as All the other amazing routes. Learnt absolutely shed loads from this with sound advice from everyone. Terry 's compliments and Kevs advice too boosted my confidence no end. I now feel like a proper biker lol
Big thanks to Steve for tailing and keeping everyone in check and also for keeping all the guys bellies full at the Cabin. Kevin's fried eggs were lush too.
Thoroughly enjoyed my first ride out and made loads of new mates. felt a bit sad to leave you all.
Until the next one, ride safe.

Re: Bishops Castle 5 2013 - Enter the Dragon
Thanks to Nick and Ellie for organising a cracking weekend. Big thanks to everyone for making it a success, well done.
Enjoyed myself at the back of the group and also had a blast being near the front after the tea break.
Good to re-unite with friends and meet new folk.
Thanks too to the guys in the cabin for cleaning up after breakie. Did anyone notice the dog wasn't hanging around today?
How many bikers does it take to fix a boiler? Second year now they given us a place with no gas!!
Got home around 5pm, officially knackered after two weeks on the bike - mind it more likely the silly o' clock I've been getting to bed. Trip home was 230 miles, abandoned my 'scenic' route and nearly fell asleep on the M4 Rather sore now, not from the bike - the rather energetic power walk back to the camp site - don't think I'm built for that
Bike's in a sorry way, hoping dumping the oil and the right quantity of fresh will sort it out.
My pics are on Flickr
An unedited 30 min Video segment

Re: Bishops Castle 5 2013 - Enter the Dragon
Back home safe and sound. Had a leisurely ride up to Shrewsbury, Congleton, over The Peak District and down to Chesterfield. Found the neighbours on their Honda Fireblade just outside Worksop and had a spirited 50 mile blat home. There again a couple in the guest house this weekend live 3 miles from me. Small world!
The weekend truely was one of the best there's been. Stunning weather, stunning roads, wonderfully paced and timed ride out, old friends, new friends and some good food and ale. No incidents of significance and the usual post ride out analysis and banter.
Thanks to Nick, Ellis and the tail end Charlie's. Stirling job.
Congratulations to those who came and survived their first ride out with the group. If you want to do it all over again there are 3 more events planned for this year.
I'll post up some video after I've had a chance to edit it.
Chris

Re: Bishops Castle 5 2013 - Enter the Dragon
I'm a bit late checking in - but why break the habit of a lifetime?
I think everything's already been said by others, but anyway, a perfect weekend. Huge thanks to Nick, Ellie and everyone else who did so much to make it such a success. And to Greencat for (and I'm struggling here to avoid saying anything that might be taken the wrong way) being the perfect room-mate.
It was great to meet up with so many of you and finally put some faces to the names, after all the time I've been on the forum. Mustn't wait so long until next time!
