I'm trading up, so it's time to sell the Cat
Hi all,
As the title suggests, I am looking to sell my Cat. I have been offered to part ex it, but it's too good to offer it to a dealer, without giving the people on here a shot at it first.
This was Snowcat's old bike, which I bought from Jordan's after he had part ex'd it.
Parts added/changed since 2013.
Stainless downpipes £185
New Hagon shock £290
Braided hoses £100
New battery £30
Chain and sprockets £175
Recon swingarm £100
Parts for brake calipers service £60
Heated grips
22,000 ish miles
Michelin Pilot Road 3 tyres with plenty of life.
And all sorts of other fettling (balanced carbs, new Phillips ultrabrite headlight bulb, serviced every year by me, Relay arm bearings and swing arm bearings, Rear wheel bearings and seals, clutch release bearing, etc.)
Could do with a new screen (£40 for a double bubble?)
Not perfect, but a nice straight bike, that wants for nothing. If I could keep it I would, but it wouldn't get used.
Be a shame to part ex it when it could go to a good home.

Cheers Rosco, I'm after a Ducati Multistrada 1200S, the same as below. I'll see if it's the bike that really can do anything.

Eddie, I was offered £1300 part ex, so OIRO that.
Cheers
John.

It is very comfortable, the seat is far better than my MT-09 Tracer. From the can you have on your 'cat it looks like you don't mind a bit of noise, the MTS is noisier than I'm used to, probably not something that would bother you. I think it'll be an absolute pleasure to ride long distance / touring on it. The alloy wheels preclude it from being a true off road bike, good for the bit of gravel at biker tea stops

If I had the money I think I'd be tempted - let us know all about it when you get it.
All the best in selling your 'cat

Re: I'm trading up, so it's time to sell the Cat
I had a test ride on a Tracer and loved it, to the point where I was looking at getting one, but for the same money as a new Tracer, I can get a 2011 Duc, with less than 15000 on the clock. No disrespect to the Tracer, as I do love them, but when you put them side by side, there's really no comparison (Full Ohlins semi-active electronic suspension, hard luggage, better LCD display, better riding modes, etc.)
I'm still very tempted by a Tracer, but I think if I didn't get the Multistrada, I'd kick myself later on.

And I thought I was a tight arse when it came to replacing tyres.
Maybe it is true what they say about Scotsmen.
I remember that emergency bike hire Tony - Mr Eddie's rear tyre was as baldy as he is now (same as me :( )
DBD has the multi strata now and absolutely loves it.

Re: I'm trading up, so it's time to sell the Cat
Hiya,
Did it go ?
Is it a performance exhaust ? I need to check for insurance purposes, you know how it is !
Where in the country are you ? I'd be looking to proceed about the first week in April, all other things being equal, and assuming it is still for sale.
Kind regards,
Matt

Re: I'm trading up, so it's time to sell the Cat
Hi All,
Apologies for not replying sooner, but I have been away with work.
Unfortunately for those interested, I couldn't hold on to it any longer and it was part-ex'd against the nearly new F800GS Adventure T below.
I suppose if you were really interested, it's been sent to Northampton Motorrad, so you may be able to find out what they're going to do with it.
It's always been a pleasure reading and looking through this forum.
So, all the best and safe riding.
John.

Lovely looking bike John.
Still space on Wee Mac (nr Selkirk) , Big Mac (nr Callander) this year and next year Big Mac is likely to be a wee bit further north.
You're more than welcome to join in.
Cheers
