Thundercats HO!
Hi there
Just bought myself a Thundercat today. Very excited. Not had a bike for years so this it's great to be (almost) back on two wheels. I say almost as I need to complete my Direct Access before I can actually ride to Cat. It's going to feel like a long wait..... Hope to have it all sorted by this time next month.
Wasn't looking at Thundercats then my local bike shop suggested them and I found one nearby. Went and had a sit on and loved it. That was yesterday and I couldn't resist buying today!
The dealer is looking after it for me until I have my license all sorted.
I live in North Somerset near Bristol. Look forward to getting to know everyone on here.
Thanks for having me on the forum. Looks great!
Cheers
Will
PS will post some pics when I work out how!

Re: Thundercats HO!
Hi there and welcome to the forum, great choice of bike, you won't be disappointed when you finally get to ride her.
I too bought my before I had my licence, it's a great motivator to get your test passed as soon as possible and that first solo ride is a sweet one.
Good luck pal
Steve

Re: Thundercats HO!
Thanks guys and thanks Steve for sorting my rubbish attempt to post a pic! Was trying to do it at work and looks like it was an epic fail!
Bike seems really nice. Bit old (96) but only done 28k and has service history. The dealer is giving a service and sticking new tyres and an MOT on it for when I get my license. It's going to feel like forever waiting....!

Re: Thundercats HO!
Nah, it wasn't an epic fail Will. What you did was to link to the page with the pic on it rather than to the pic itself.
Don't worry about the age, there was a wiring loom change after yours to accommodate an alarm, which I think was never used on any of the bikes. Mine is registered 2003 although it was manufactured in 2000 and now sports a 1997 engine and is going better than ever, turning back the hands of time I've made a 50+K mile bike into a 17+k teenager
Very nice looking bike you have there.

Re: Thundercats HO!
Thanks Steve. Think I've got it now with the pics.
Also thanks for the advice about age. I broke all my rules by buying the first one I looked at! I was looking at SV650's and Hornets etc but my local bike shop suggested I try a Thundercat for size. I did and I then had to have it! I have twin babies so not much time to spend looking all over the country at secondhand bikes.
I hope it's a pretty good one. It's a CAT D so was not too expensive, but it's from the local Yamaha dealer and they seem like a good bunch and are happy to look after the bike for me while I get my paperwork.
They told me not to stress about the 2nd gear issue, one thing I don't know is how much I should worry about the vavle clearences? I guess I'll see how it goes when I get to use it...? Again my local bike shop said they don't ever really have to fiddle with the value clearances.
Thanks for the warm welcome and advice guys. I'll try and post some more pics at some point.

The engineering of the engine is so good that you don't have to worry about that. My first 'Cat has over 100k miles on it and the clearances were never a problem. It was bought off eBay, not seen and turned out to be a real corker.

Re: Thundercats HO!
Sweet. Great news Steve. Thanks. I have a couple of Honda VTEC cars and they need adjusting but looks eisier on the cars than it would be on the Cat. "If it ain't broke don't fix it" I think will be my motto with the Thunderrat!

Re: Thundercats HO!
Welcome to the site, nice bike you have there.
Enjoy the CBT, the 125's certainly aren't as much fun as the cat but (as someone who's just done the DAS recently) being on any bike makes me smile (unless I have to peddle).
