Newbie from Essex Empty Newbie from Essex

Post  SLIM Thu Jul 11 2013, 17:33

Hi all , my name is Paul and i live in Essex. I have just got a Thundercat and thought i would join you on the forum. Past my test many years ago and had numerous two strokes , lc's ypvs kr1 etc then had a break from biking due to buying a house and starting a family etc. Then a couple of years ago i got back on two wheels with an old xj600 that was soon replaced with a zzr600 which was then sold as a mate had a 1200 bandit for sale. I used the Bandit as a commuter and loaded up went to IOM TT last year which was great fun but wanted a fairing to save my neck/ shoulders a bit. So the bandit was moved on and last week i picked up a 1998 Thundercat which i am really pleased with .

Welcome Paul, nice bike and am sure you will enjoy it. As Ross said would be interested to hear how it comares to the bandit as the engine is half the size.

Well on paper both bikes put out about 100 bhp but feel totally different due to the torque of the bandit meaning you can accelerate in just about any gear at any revs and it just goes where as the cat needs the revs kept up to get the same sort of acceleration, definitely a more sporty feel to the cat. Also a more sporty riding position with the lower clip-on type bars rather than the more upright and wider renthal bars that i had on the bandit. The bandit was the naked / streetfigher model so i am appreciating the fairing on the cat although still suffering with wind noise from my Arai Chaser lid unless i lay on the tank.
