Re: mirror extensions
Ya don't say.....you'll be telling us is your headlight isn't great next.
Unless you are japanese size i think you'll struggle to use them.
I've got thunderace mirrors which I think are the most aesthetically pleasing and much better view but still not as good as extentions - but they don't look awfully nice IMO and ain't that cheap.
Always a trade off.
Some folks have gone for ones with built in indicators too....which look trick.
Cheers

Re: mirror extensions
Mike,
I'm working to address the same issue and found a website (below) which sells them. Haven't purchased them, but it looks like a decent option.

Re: mirror extensions
Interesting,
Is that just an extender where the OEM mirror is bolted on , or is it the business end of a new set of mirrors ?

Re: mirror extensions
It is just for the extender. Attached below is a comparable link that shows two types of yamaha compatible extender options. The first is a simple spacer and the second is a hinge extension. I looks like the option for the YZF600R is the hinge extension. (for the cost, you would think it would include the full mirror set!)

Managed to win a pair of ace mirrors £15 delivered from ebay.
Hopefully should be better than what's on now.

Hi RTB
If I remember correctly you can re-use one of the existing thundercat mirror holes but you need to drill another one.
I was given some instructions by someone on the old website.
Let me know if you want me to try and find them.
Cheers

Hi Danny
I managed to find it.
It was sent to me by user Jez (on the old MSN site)
The text is as follows but I'll try and share complete with pics somehow.
"
Modifications:
The main difference between the Cat and Ace mirrors is the direction of thread onto the bike. The Modification utilises the original body holes, the ACE original front thread, and a Cat Mirror bolt on the rear.
ThunderCat - Held in by two Allen Key Bolts fastened from the Outside.
ThunderAce – Held in by the mirror threads passing through the body, from the outside, secured by nuts on the inside. The distance between the mounting holes is shorter than that of the cat.
The Front mounting is roughly the same distance from the start of the mirror bracket, so we need to use this thread.
The Rear thread needs to be removed from the mirror. Cut the rear thread off each mirror so that the mounting plate is flat
Next modification is the mounting holes on the bike.
Drill out the thread inside the front-most hole:
Fit the new Mirror onto the bike using the front thread, lightly bolt and align the bracket accordingly (Moving the mirrors at this point to adjust aspect will snap the thread!)
Using a pointed tool such as Drill-bit or Screwdriver, insert through the rear mounting hole from inside the fairing, making a score on the back of the Mirror Mount
Remove Mirror and drill a new hole through the Mirror Mount, big enough to fit the ThunderCat bolt thread through it, as centred as you can (from top to bottom) on the mark you have made on the back of the Mirror Mount.
Refit Mirror, align to holes, bolt front thread from the inside of the bike, screw in a thundercat bolt from the outside through the hole you have made and onto the bike (should align perfect).
Congratulations, they are finished. Adjust as necessary and off you go!
Jez

Re: mirror extensions
Thanks for your help Rosco but I went a different route this morning and got them fitted (will post pics).
I decided to use both of the Ace's threads and used the Cat's original rear fixing holes
