shock Front Sprocket Falling off!!

Post  hena-c Wed Feb 06 2013, 13:40

Hey all,

Has anybody else had a problem with the front sprocket on the cat? Basically this is the second time the nut that holds the front sprocket on has come off. Yes i did use a new nut and lock washer, and it was professionally fitted..

Any suggestions?

Cheers

It has happened to some, not sure what the cure has been - differs from what I can understand.

Thread tape or Locktite might work, but I think some one has gone as far as drilling a hole through the spindle and fitting a cotter pin.

Someone who has had this, will be along soon and hopefully be able to help you.

what he said
There was even someone who went as radical as welding the sprocket to the shaft Shocked . . . though I'd not recomend this myself unless an engine or shaft exchange/rebuild was in the planning.

According to my greasy monkey it's a common problem with cats and fazers did you bend the washer over after tighting the nut??? And reading past threads I think rosco used locktite to help.

I discoverd that id used mine for 3,000 miles without a nut on sprocket but to make sure it wouldnt happen again i got new nut locking washer also used thread lock and put to spots of weld not using to much heat so it can be ground of with not to much hassle . Still on there after 2,000 miles LMAO
