Hi All

Looking for a gauge of interest on this one please.
Probable maybe's and above.

The plan at the moment is to do something a bit different on the Friday night (subject to interest)

Since we are all petrol heads anyway how about seeing if we can get the go-karts on two wheels on the Friday night before the rideout on the Saturday.

Fiona (WkW) and myself have been looking at karting and accommodation in both Edinburgh (near the airport) and Livingston (about 10 miles west). We have since confirmed our booking at Livingston.

The guestimates of cost are currently approx £23 pppn (excluding breakfast) at a Hotel near to the karting (walking distance at Edinburgh Karting and about 2miles away from Livingston Karting)
Karting is working out at £25 pp at Livingston and possibly a bit more (tbc) at Edinburgh

Accomodation cost should be £27.50 pppn Inc breakfast
Cost of the karting should be £25 pp. We need 12 minimum.

Good news and bad news.

Bad news is the only time we can get karting is 5.30 til 7.30 pm on the Friday.
We need to be there at 5pm!!!

Good news - or is it - we can get to the bar earlier.
You can just turn up at the karting (race-ready) and check in at your accommodation after if that helps.

I'm not forcing people to stay in the accommodation we suggest nor forcing people to attend or participate in the karting.

FYI - For people staying in the group accommodation we normally suggest people share twins (and doubles if you've pulled) and if it turns out we need an additional single room then the full cost is split equally between all people in the group accomodation. If you specifically want a single then you will need to pay any extra yourself.

If enough people want to do the karting for it to be viable them it will go ahead.

If people express an interest in doing a shorter and more fuel economical ride-out then this will go ahead. We've got a volunteer rideout leader ready should there be people wanting this option.
As mentioned in the other post should the two rideout option go ahead then we will probably still have rendezvous points and lunch together so people have the option of changing if they wish. If you are new to rideouts and want to be broken in gently or not so new to rideouts and fancy seeing the views a bit more then this might be just the ticket for you.

Route(s) haven't been 100% sorted yet but we will do our best to ensure we find the best bits.

Not long now...

Where exactly in Richmond do you suggest we meet? Town will probably be deserted at 11am anyway due to a certain event happening at that time.

Bearing in mind all the usual faffing about when a group of bikers get together do we still think meeting at 11am is OK to get to the Karting on time?

I've updated the list again which should reflect what everyone is doing. Can you please check this is accurate for you?

The two couples have their doubles sorted. Snory Steve has a single. There is one double that is going to be used as a single so if anyone particularly wants that room for medicinal, snoring or on-the-pull purposes then please let me know.

Cost is £24 pppn regardless (cost's added up and split equally) - total £48 which has to be paid on arrival. After looking through my previous posts I don't think this will include breakfast (an extra £4.50 per day). Therefore the total is more likely to be £57 pp. I'll try and confirm later today.

Please note that the go-karters should be at the karting ready to start the briefing at 5pm.

Folks to sort their own food on Friday night (a few options nearby), organised in the attached oriental restaurant for the Saturday night.

Gonna make it a pre 9am meet up and try and depart soon after 9.15am

Our first fuel stop will be approx 100 miles after leaving the digs so try and make sure you have enough (although we will be passing a service-station before we join the motorway in the morning for those that require it.

The square in Richmond is quite a large one, I suggest we meet at the top end [the highest point] you'll see what I mean when you get there. I think this is a better meeting point than the pub car park, as thats a little hard to find if you've never been before. Rough est. to the top of Hartside and the cafe there 1 hour, say 1/2 an hour messin about cup of tea etc. Then about 2&1/2 hours to Livingstone. That should give us ample time for fuel stops etc. Tes
