Hi, wanted to know if the megastore that was george whites is worth going to to look at new clothing and boots, do they have a large range? Is it worth a 2-3 hour ride? Thinking of going on 23rd but don't really want to ride all that way to find a small selection, there website don't seem to have much on there
Cheers

might it not be worth a shorter trip to the london bike show?

I visit the swindon shop now and then and really depends what your after. they do have a fair amount of choice and alot of size options with that choice.

personally for me they dont have the boots I am after and sometimes they can be limited on size options. they do have a large choice of 1 and 2 piece leathers and a fair choice of textile stuff. personally i wouldnt rate some of the textile stuff but thats just me.

they do a lot o frank thomas stuff, and some lesser know brands as well as your alpine stars etc

I go as its a fairly nice hr's ride for me. but to go for a 2/3 hr jaunt I couldnt say if you'd come back with anything you wanted and could be seen as a waste of fuel but thats up to you.

really depends exactly what you want out of the kit and your budget I guess.

I myself am off to the london bike show next week for some boots and gloves. having had some cheapy stuff before am hoping there some deals on the more pricey better made stuff

Hello, it's not bad but depends what your after.

My mate just swapped his KTM adventure for an RC8 and went there and kitted himself up with some new kit (white gloves and boots to go with his white leathers, looks like he should be riding a Gixxer now) and his missus with everything, leathers, boots, gloves, lid and they got a great deal, but then he was buying LOTS of stuff.

I've only bought a pair of bike jeans and some gloves from them myself but had a good experience with them.

2-3 hours? only if you're cruising at 30!

It's a nice ride up to swindon on the back roads through Marlborough and Devizes, better than any roads aroudn where we are! It will only take 2 and half hours to get to Shropshire! So Swindon will only take you an hour to hour and half at the most.

Drop me a text nearer the time you're going and I may come with you.

Cheers

It's a bit like any outlet place - if you go looking for something specific you may be disappointed, but there are plenty of bargains to be had.

Another place worth looking at, based on your location, is the Infinity outlet shop in Camberley, just off the big roundabout on the A30 and easy access from the M3:

I've been there once when I was in the vicinity, just to have a nosey round. There seemed to be a fair bit of stock, although the discounts weren't perhaps as great as Motorcycle Megastore in Swindon.

He might enjoy it if it's a change for him.

Cheers for the advice guys, tried to go yesterday but 15ish miles away, unfortunately one of my group took a corner a bit wide on the b4000 and hit a dead rabbit with the front wheel, slipped went onto the grass verge hit a curb flipped over the bars, ambulance was called, took 40 mins to arrive, once accessed they suspected he'd broken his thigh bone, took him to oxford, and we headed to the hospital, after spending 90 mins riding we made it, he and scams and xrays, all is fine just battered and bruised,
Just thought I'd let you know

Mates all good, but sore, his bike is surprisingly Ok ish, needs new crank case and clutch lever and it'll be good to go, but police had it recovered to stop anyone stealing it, cost £160 to get it back, I made it up swindon today and picked up a pair of Oxford boots for £50 so can't grumble, they have some good bargains in there, tried on a tcx. Boot in j&s £150 but someone had stolen the other boot so they were ordering some, when I git to swindon they had the same boots for £80 but found out me right foot is bigger than my left and diddent fit, very well, so I settled on the Oxford boots,

Is it a coincidence that one TCX boot has been pinched from J&S and you discovering they don't make a very good pair in another?

Sounds to me like somebody else has discovered that after buying them and decided to take positive action. Smile
