Big Mick Master List - 6th July - 9th July

First topic message reminder :

Have a 10 man Dorm and a double room provisionally booked (http://www.portrushholidayhostel.co.uk/) in Portrush.
The rest of the Hostel is already booked up so this is all we could get. There are however a few other places to stay in Portrush so accom shouldn't be a problem.
Google it and you'll see there are plenty.
They have offered me a deal for £35 per person for the whole weekend which is pretty good and includes continental breakfast and all bedding.
Kitchen facilities are available for anyone who fancies bacon buttes etc.
They have Wifi too.
They have space out the back for Bike parking as they told me they cater for the NW200 as well. Seem pretty biker friendly.
Hostel will be 1st come first served so if you wanna slot get you name down quick.
There is only 1 double room available so any couples coming along get in quick!!
I will need a £10 deposit paid by the 15th April to secure your bunk.
So Please cut 'n paste and add your name to the list if you are coming along.

Hello all, new member and N.I resident with Black Cat, if she is back in one bit I hope to make it up to Port Rush for the meet / ride.

One more joining us, if thats OK he is I think a site member Mike Gough, and he rides one o them BMW thingies, wi bits stikin out the sides.

2nd hand sump arrived yesterday, needs a wee bit of cleaning / fettling etc and gasket is now in Belfast so hope to get the Cat back up and running by Sun (work dependent). I will try and come up on the Friday night and get a B&B or camp. Where is the main RV planed for Sat morning?[/b]

Where you leaving from? maybe route and timing permitted some can meet up en route. Seems my ride up from Galway is mainly in IRL, could change course to suit.

New rear tyre and chain set fitted ready for the trek up north.

When are folk meeting up (and time) around the Scotch Corner area on the Friday as i'll tag along if you dont mind.

Well I'm gonna head down the coast road if anyone from up north wants to meet up? Davie are you coming down the A82? You can stop in at mine for a coffee? Same for you Rosco either that or we can meet en route.
I'll be looking at leaving around midday from ma hoose. I'll contact the Aberdeen division to see which way they are coming down.

Rob, nothing confirmed yet but we are probably heading over to Windermere for breakfast to all the west coast lot and then heading up the road from there.

If any of you fancy stopping at Carlisle on way north to the ferry then I can get the bacon butties and a cuppa on for you, let me know before hand for supplies reasons - though got to warn you although the wee one would love to see all the bikes in the end she will be unimpressed by any that dont have lairy race paint. Got to laugh when I point out a brand new R1 or Blade to her and she declares its not as good as yours dad

I'll probably rendezvous with my bee-atch in Strathaven late morning before we head over the a70 to Ayr and south to cairnryan.

Mike Gough has just contacted me, he wo'nt be able to make it after all, will explain later.

Cat back in one piece , new sump fitted and a USB charger because I was bored. B&B booked in Portrush just round the corner from the main body in the Hostel. Will be up on Friday night.

Just got home this afternoon Davie. Give us a bell tomorrow as I'm reacquainting myself with alcohol tonight so you won't get much sense out of me tonight. Atholl emailed me saying he was gonna call you. Think he's getting off on Monday now instead so he should be good to go.

Another recruit, he's called Gordon, and will be staying with us at the Harbour Hieghts.

Juet had a thought, if we go into southern Ireland, wo'nt we need european style No. plates? Have just ordered one anyway to be on the safe side

Don't think its a legal requirement Terry, but I've already got one.

Another thing for folks to consider is breakdown cover, after much searching the cheapest I could find for Europe was £60

A quick phonecall to my banks benefits provider confirmed that my banks UK breakdown cover (Green Flag) now covers all vehicles owned by me and not just cars.
For the length of time we'll be spending in 'Europe', in the event of breakdown I would rather have Ross and Dave push start me again than pay £60 for cover I'll only use for a few hours this year.

Bu66er that - we'll club together and buy you recovery.

That's the reason why I've not taken out the extra cover. Cost for just a few hours riding. Won't pick me up anyway if I have a spill.
