New to forum !!
Hi everyone,
I’ve had my thundercat for several years and the past 2 years it’s been in the shed. So it’s time to get it sorted out as I really want to get back riding again.
I started it up but seem to have the same problem as many others.
It only runs on choke and cuts out when you try to turn off the choke.
I’ve tried new fuel and some fuel system cleaner in the tank.
But that didn’t help.
So I’ve been stripping it down following my Haynes manual and finally I’ve removed the carbs for cleaning.
While I’m at this stage and thinking I will give the bike a complete clean up.
The swing arm has the odd rust spot here and there and assumed powder coating it for a good finish.
Any thoughts or tips for the full strip and rebuild would be very grateful.

Welcome to the site. Good luck with the rebuild. Modern fuels seem to play havoc with carbs if left.
Just take it steady on the rebuild and if you hit a problem, walk away for a bit, have a cuppa and think...then go back to it. Keep us posted as to your progress

Hi, welcome.
All the best in your carb clean and restoration. You could look in workshop section to see what others have done, or possibly use keywords and do a search.

Hi & welcome, As said the modern fuel with ethanol in is terrible stuff to leave in for a while. carb clean up & a new set of spark plugs should sort it out.
Best of luck & keep us posted with progress.

Hi.
Thanks for the comments.
Hopefully I’ve attached some pictures.
There was quite a bit of crap in the bottom of the float bowls.

Hi and Welcome to the forum.
Good luck with the refresh work. Perhaps you can join one of the get togethers once it's done.
See you out there
Cheers

Hi.
That sounds good, I will be a while before she’s ready as my time is limited as Work is very busy.
I noted the pilot / mixture screws before removing and there all very different. They didn’t have the caps in them so they have been adjusted before. I read that 2 turns out on all of them isn’t far off.
Has anybody had any experience with this ?
Thanks in advance.

Re: New to forum !!
Hi,
I’ve still got to clean the carbs, I thought I would strip the bike down and get parts powder coated.
I’ve gone further than I thought I would but I do like taking things apart !
Does anybody know where I can get the plastic cable ties that clip into the frame ? [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]
