Hello to all you Thundercatters.

What a great day for a blast......if you are in the south east of the UK anyway.

I bought my TC almost a year ago as it was a fair amount of bike for the asking price. I wasn't particularly looking for a sports bike, more of an adventure, but a year down the line I still use it every day for the commute as it is an awesome, fun bike. Mine is a high mileage, all red 1999 model.

Can someone tell me....... are the all red editions typically harder to source parts for and to buy in the first place as mine is in need of a few coloured panels and sourcing these is a struggle. When I do find what I am looking for (on eBay) the asking price seems way off the mark.

Hi and welcome, yes sure is a lovely day for a ride. Was planning on getting out later, but decided against it - just too hot Wink  Not for me but I find at least around my way when the mercury rises so does the road rage.

There are two colour Red Thundercats, mine was a candy red similar to my Tracer in my avitar, do you have that one?

Not really that easy to see the Avitar wall
The first and 3rd bike have the one red colour scheme the middle left with my black lid on the mirror and the one on the right hand side are the other red scheme

Hi SteveCat. Thanks for your reply. I guess I am lucky enough that my commute through Berkshire (Reading Area) is a fairly decent route with little anger anger ever seen Smile

Yes I have the Candy red Cat. Glad you said about two reds, learn a little every day!! I bought it from a fella who didn't care much for bike love. The mechanical side of it is sound, not the sme stroy for the bodywork. Evidence of spray can and pain brush use if looking close enough with a keen eye.

If you need to look for paint or get the right name of the colour it's called "Vivid Red Cocktail 7" or VRC7

Finding good clean panels isnhard especially in a colour that is crashed more often, check out statistics, red is the colour that is at the top of statistics for accidents.

Have you not considered having yours resprayed? I know someone local that could do it green smile . Things you need to keep in mind though is it won't be a perfect match due to sun damage over the years and it will make any other marks on other panels stand out more.

No it isn't.

It's Black (or shades thereof), for pretty obvious reasons. Neutral

Maybe should have been more specific, I didn't mean #1 but it's at the top of crash statistics

Have to say my Red one ended in a ditch on a site ride out before I bought it and my only accident (hope it stays that way) was on it ...

I think I may have seen you a few days ago... I live near Didcot and saw a red one when I was in my car, at the new roundabout on the A417 heading over towards Hagbourne Hill.

Hi TJ.

Welcome to the site.
Can't help with the parts I'm afraid but good luck in the search.

Getting other coloured panels sprayed is what I did (having friends that do paint jobs and vinyl helped though)

Whilst it wasn't a perfect match it was close enough to still look the business.

Cheers
