Well that's it totally bucked now.
Sorry to say that I've only gone and written off my beloved Thundercat.
Out with Daz, Atholl and H (not from Steps)
Heading to Ullapool and got 12 miles north of Spean Bridge when it happened.
Diesel spills kill (thankfully only the bike after it hit the Armco post) 12 miles north of Spean bridge right hander doing 50-60 in the wet.
Daz in front made it and thankfully Atholl behind made it without hitting me.
Felt it starting to go and by the time I'd swore I was sliding down the road. Didn't think I was braking or accelerating just enough to maintain speed.
Thankfully I escaped with just getting muddy and ripping my waterproofs.
Had that bike 12 and a half years (Spain, Alps, Germany, All over the UK and Ireland, track days) .....Gutted :(

What the Dicken's.
Our sites pride and joy buggered by diesel. Terry has had that happen to himself with his FJR.
Watch out for his snide remarks but devastated, I bet you are but luckily, not injured.
R.I.P Bos 1.
LBD is swapping his remember.

Re: Well that's it totally bucked now.
Oh Jesus Ross sorry to hear this, glad you are ok mate.
The old cat does look well & truly knacked, you have to find another to replace it, there's not many of us cat owners left on the site.
Hope you are ok tomorrow, a few years ago when the truck struck the side of me it was the day after when the pain started.
Paul

Re: Well that's it totally bucked now.
Got to be careful here, devastated to hear Bos 1 has survived the burning ritual I have always had in mind for it, but thankfully your OK Ross. As you know same experience on my beloved FJR (the gold one) first thing you know you're sliding down the road on your aris, nowt you can do, just get out there and buy another BOS. I know you can do it. You got form Bros. Love Tes.

Re: Well that's it totally bucked now.
Gutted for you Ross but I'd still say it's repairable (ask Mr Nutt lol) Get the bent bits stripped off it & a few second hand parts will sort it along with a best buddy painter chappy Euan?!
Pleased your ok but I have to ask 'did the top box survive?'

Really sorry to hear about this. :(:
Looking on the bright side, at least you seem to have come though it OK. But it is tough to see your beloved bike so battered and bruised. :violin:

Re: Well that's it totally bucked now.
Thanks for all the well wishes folks.
Going to deal with insurance tomorrow.
Things that i know that are bucked.
Front wheel (I do actually have a spare one on of these).
Probably both forks.
All 3 front fairings, nose and screen
Givi rack bent but top box survived with a scrape.
Crash bung
Front Indicator
Bar end
Exhaust
Down pipes.
Front mudguard.
Wing mirror.
Rear brake lever/foot rest.
I've got someone coming to see my BMW g650gs in the morning to maybe buy it.
Could be going from 3 bikes to one (that needs a fair bit of attention) in two days.
Not really sure what's next tbh.
Cheers

Re: Well that's it totally bucked now.
Ross,
Just a quick message, All those parts are easily replaced but have a good look at the headstock, if that's damaged then it's a be frame & it's taken quite a hit.
Good Luck

Re: Well that's it totally bucked now.
Glad you're, and every one else is ok (bet there's a few more sore bits this morning, they have a way of developing over time when you're not looking). Every one seems concerned about the bike but how are you going to replace the waterproofs, they seem to have been going as long as the bike?
If the frames ok, turn it into a street fighter and seeing that it's been down the road, you'll not have worry about spending so much time and effort cleaning, polishing and looking after it .
Best of luck looking for another bike, if you're going for another Cat, they seem to be going for silly money nowadays.

STOP PRESS! All is not lost, apparently there is a world shortage of used duct tape, the Chinese (who else)have been buying it all up, seen people asking £15.00 per metre for the stuff. So get BOS 1 on e bay pronto, you could make a killing.
