Another reason not to have a camera on the bike
Always thought the cops would use a video to see what you're doing not that any of us would ride like this plank mind.

Re: Another reason not to have a camera on the bike
That's not a reason not to have a camera, its a reason not to ride like a moron on public roads.

"Before he crashed, Oliver had reached a speed of 130mph on the Cockfield bypass" how appropriate

Re: Another reason not to have a camera on the bike
While I agree he was driving like a tit, I don't believe the police should have been able to use he own footage to prosecute him. And I certainly think a 4 year ban was excessive but I suppose they wanted to make an example out of him
Re: Another reason not to have a camera on the bike
It wasn't just his own, unless he was running the camera in the van he nearly hit.
If he hadn't caused an accident and wrecked his bike, it may never have seen the light of day as corroborating evidence.

Seen this on Visordown and it was a harsh result for the lad. Also doing 90 in a 30 zone doesn't help.
Police have the power to seize camera's as evidence of there investigation so that's just a little reminder, to lob them into a nearby hedge until it's safe to retrieve them.
The video in the van only proves a rider and bike was sliding towards it. Nothing else.

Not only cameras but SatNav's too and smart phones which can record your track.
I'm pretty sure that's along the A272 near Haywards Heath, one of my stomping grounds - must remember not to wheelie along there anymore Not clever what he did.
Had to shake my head at the reporting of the story though, the place is actually called Cuckfield. Now I know cuck has a totally different meaning to what I know in my Saffa (Sauf Afriken ) slang, for me it's what eminates from the rear of the body, so it is still apt - he must have cucked himself when he hit the deck (I'll get my coat).

I doubt they'd find it difficult to work out the speed, given the video shows the distance travelled and time time it took......even if it was on it's side.
So if that shows it was exceeding the speed limit, they pretty much have you bang to rights for at least one offence.
Re: Another reason not to have a camera on the bike
Similar happened to guy on BCF! Police raided his house took his computer with ALL his personal recordings! He was constantly riding like a tit if I remember had book thrown at him.

Re: Another reason not to have a camera on the bike
I think a camera is only worth having if you ride around built up areas alot and need to catch cars and buses cutting you up or idiots on phones running reds. If you ride for 'pleasure' then chances are its working more against than for you.
I also dont understand the ego of these people. If i wanna hoon about its usually becuase i want to enjoy myself. I wouldnt think for a minute that you guys would want to watch it?

Re: Another reason not to have a camera on the bike
Video footage/cameras/police wouldn't be my concern.
The pain it causes would be!

Does my name really come up as dunfer-dood or is that just oldcat being old lol its meant to be Dude of rude. Its juvenile i know but has been my online alias for about 16 years now.
And yes without these egotists we wouldnt have half the fail videos we do, but personally thats even more of an incentive not to have one. If i stuff it i want as few people to know im an idiot as possible haha

I watched a crash program on TV last night and the police said a lot of people have been able to prove their innocence using dash camera's

Re: Another reason not to have a camera on the bike
Guy that picked my bike up for recovery company says he won't ride without a camera now!
Says he keeps it hidden under front so not obvious to police but covers his arse if needed!
