Hi there Empty Hi there

Hi there

Just found this site and thought I would give it a go!
I have had my 2002 cat for just over 6 months.  I wanted one for about 7 years though, even since before I passed my test in 2007.  Had a Yamaha 600 diversion a few years ago as thats all I could afford and then no bike for almost 5 years until the cat.
I totally love it!  Gives me a buzz every day! Very Happy

had a service a few months ago and only thing wrong was need a replacement spark plug cap.  It has been misfiring a little esp on braking down.  Mechanic said it would cost 50 quid and ordered one in but still no word.  Im a bit annoyed about it.  Was wondering if this is something I can do myself?
I have little in the way of tools and not much mechanical know how!  Looks like the plug cap can be bought much cheaper online.
Anyone got any tips?

Anyway, Hi to everyone.  Pleased to see Im not the only one who loves their thundercat!
Cant seem to upload pic

Cheers

Here is a link on How to post pictures linkhope it helps.
Have a look in the Workshop area, link Click Here, you may find someone else had the same or similar problem and the solution is already there.
If not, I'm sure some kind mechanically minded bod will be along shortly to give you a hint or two wink thumb up

Hi and Welcome

very tidy looking cat you have there left thumb up

depend in which spark plug it is you might have to take one of the side panels off, if so that could be why its £50 at the spanner shop for labour and parts maybe?

I've never done spark plugs, oil, filters speedo replacements I have though. though I am sure someone with more noose and knowledge will be along soon to help

I can't be sure about the plug caps fitted to the Thundercat, but when I've replaced them on previous bikes the HT lead usually unscrews from inside the plug cap. They basically have what looks like a self tapping screw moulded into them. Sometimes the bike manufacturer prefers the 'glue and screw' approach and they are bonded into place, but with a little patience even these can be undone.

Thanks everyone
Hi Hehore I am in Portchester and work in Fratton and sometimes in Gosport.

Just had a look at Oval motorcycle centre through the link on this site. Looks like a great place to learn bike maintenance.
