Heading North

Hi folks,

Just wondering what everyones travel arrangements were for getting up to Big Mac?

Been chatting with Mr Nutt and we're probably going to meet and ride up together, possibly meeting Rosco on the way.

How many people are heading up from Englandshire?

i am off that week i just gat the news from my boss
but i am afraid i will not coming becouse i am to scared of corners :( after 3 crashes i have to slow down every corner :( i will slow dawn you all

No probs Tom, this topic is meant for all of the people travelling up from England anyway!

I live in Yorkshire so was going to meet everyone and we'll all ride up to Scotland together.

Steve, Paul & Karina are staying over at mine on the Thursday night.

Thinking about leaving around lunchtime(ish) (or maybe just after) on the Friday to get to Oban.
We can have access from 2pm but I don't see the point in getting there too early.....We'll have a days riding on the Saturday remember.
Probably going more north first and then west rather than the more direct route.

Tom - no one is told to go slow or fast.  Everyone is told to be as safe as possible and look after each other.
Everyone needs to ride within their own limits.  If anyone thinks they are going too fast then they definitely are and need to slow down.
Our marker system allows everyone (when it works correctly - which I'm sure it will) to not get lost.
The group can be split over miles and miles (which it normally does) and we still ride as one group.
All riders NEED to ensure that they give plenty of space to others and that all overtakes are safe, well indicated and as courteous as possible.

The lead rider will always be in front, the back marker will always be at the back.  We will have at least TWO people marking EVERY junction.

No-one should slow anyone down and no-one should speed anyone else up.  Everyone needs to take responsibility for their own safety and ride their own ride.

If you fancy just a "Taste of BigMac" then we'll be heading from Gourock (after the ferry) to Greenock for lunch on the Saturday before heading back to the A82 and Oban bound again.

The rideout is open to everyone and you're welcome to attend some or all of the ride(s)

Are you sure Chris? We are staying just round the corner from the Oban Distillery........

Ross, we could probably make it to yours for 12:30 - 13:00 ish? Any earlier and it'll be motorway most of the way up

What time are you meeting dave and where?

I am meeting chris at devils bridge, kirkby lonsdale ( I assume) not sure on time yet though ....


Chris, I am sure you could use the just popping out for a drink/sorry work called me in issues and come along for a few days  

Cool, have a bit of work to do in the morning but devils bridge is local for me so will more thn likely tag along if that's ok?

What time you working till Mevsdy?

To get to Rosco's at 12:30 -13:00 we would need to leave Devil's Bridge at about 09:00.

I don't mind waiting and the 3 of us can ride up together if you want? (Anythiing for an extra hour in bed!)

I would be struggling to get tp Devils bridge before eleven... I could make eleven but that would be the earliest. If you chaps want to go earlier then please don't let me stop you if you have already made plans..

Can I throw my twopennyworth in? Myself Chicken Tim, John Armitage and Bob, will also be meeting at DB, Think Paul & Karina might be there as well. Hope no one minds.,

Is that the Thursday or the Friday terry?

Martin, 11 is a bit late for me. Leaving at that time means a chunk of motorway somewhere to get to Oban at a decent hour and I'll be aiming to avoid all major roads and make a day of it.

9 am on Friday morning at Devils Bridge for me, with the possibility of meeting up with Rosco et al by lunchtime for the remainder of the ride north. Also, fish & chips at that spot in Biggar.......

Terry, I think Krusty & Karina are staying at Ross's on the Thursday night. Has everyone else decided against going up a day early?

No probs at all, unavoidable for me but I'll get my kicks on Saturday anyway. Might stop in on my nephew in Carlisle on the way up. If I can get to DB for 9 then I will be there but don't wait...
