I'm Alive.... Alive I tell ya!!!!
Well... where to start.
We moved... again. Had to move out of the stables, couldn't do another winter there (a real stables, in a field woulda been warmer). Couldn't find anywhere nice in MD so we moved to Myddle (just outside Shrewsbury).
We moved... again. Two reasons this time, 1: Under 1/2 meg broadband speed, on a good day, with a tail wind. 2: I pulled my back whilst moving, no worries, after nearly 30 years of martial arts I've done this and a LOT worse loads of times. What I didn't plan for was with an hour journey each way now to work on the bike I developed Sciatica.
Now I've heard people say they've had Sciatica in the past and thought "Bad back, get over it ya wimp). To those people I am TRULY sorry for not being more sympathetic. As I said I've had my share of injuries over the years, both collar bones broken, various other broken bones, frozen shoulders etc etc. NEVER have I had pain like this. Basically I was on Morphine, Diazepam and Amitriptyline and still spent over a month unable to sit or lay down. Sleep was a thing of the past and a Tens machine did no more than tickle it for a few minutes. BTW, I'm not looking for sympathy just updating my absence.
Anyway, the upshot was after 4 months of statutory sick pay I had to sell the Cat, resign (as I had no way of getting from Myddle to SOT) and it was killing my former boss as he couldn't take anyone on but I couldn't tell him when I'd be back.
Oh... Did I mention we've moved again. Back in MD now as we managed to get a really nice place and we like MD.
I appear to be almost fully recovered, still on the Morphine (cut back to 1 a day) and the Amitriptyline and an MRI shows a bulging disk and lots of tearing but the tearing is mainly age related. Went to the Physio today and she is confident it has nearly healed and will be surprised if the specialist feels the need to operate, more likely an injection if anything. Bad thing is now I appear to be developing a frozen Left shoulder (had micro surgery 2 years ago to sort the Right one) but this is manageable so wth.
Looking around for another bike now (and a job) so hopefully by the end of summer I may be back on teh road and able to join you Guy's n Gal's for a rideout so if anyone sees or hears about a CCM R30 going for a good price let me know.
Anyway, good to be back and hopefully it's all plain sailing from now on.

Re: I'm Alive.... Alive I tell ya!!!!
Aye, best of luck mate.
(Don't go damaging yourself getting on the bike again too soon)
Parts of your post tripped my memory.
When I moved into my last house I had a bit of decorating to do.
While stripping down what was a girls bedroom for decorating (it was pink and purple ) I developed a bit of a sore head.
The girlfriend at the time was a GP and she recommended I take a couple of mild pain killers from her medical bag. I grabbed the ones she said, showed her them to make sure they were the ones she meant and gubbed them.
Next day I woke to find that I had stripped the walls as planned, but then removed all the skirting, doors, windows sills, wood surrounds and even raggled channels to run new leccy sockets in.
My recollection of doing this was fuzzy at best, so I asked the GF wtf she'd given me the night before..
It turned out she hadn't really been paying attention and I'd taken a couple of Amytriptylene she had for Fibromyalgia instead of co-codamol.

Re: I'm Alive.... Alive I tell ya!!!!
I feel your pain with the sciatica, had a bulging disc 10 years ago and gave me the same grief, the only time I've took pain killers with whiskey.
Had to wake up 30 mins earlier than normal just so I could get dressed for work, what was annoying being unable to park in a blue badge area and seeing some of those people a damn sight more agile than I was.
I've been virtually pain free for about 7 years now(so it does ease) but the damp and age doesn't help sometimesI get a slight twinge.
Glad to see things appear on the up and hope things carry on that way.

Welcome back, I know the bulging disc thing! Its crap. Stay away from the injections unless absolutely nothing else works.
Good Luck with the bike hunting x

Sure.
It took me a fortnight to refit everything though, about 13 days more than I'd originally planned.
Re: I'm Alive.... Alive I tell ya!!!!
Wooow! It's some years since GP's have carried drugs around in their bags lol. (And thats the reason why haha) You're lucky you weren't comatosed, their side effect is a very effective sleeping tablet!
Life's a bitch sometimes, really hope things look up for you real soon Bryan.

Hi Bryan,
Welcome back to the clan. I was wondering where you'd gone!
Sounds like you've had a lot to deal with and I really hope it all starts to improve for you.
Just been talking about the ride over to BC. Looks like we might be stopping at The Raven, so if you're about it would be great to see you?
Keep us up-to-date with any developments on the bike and health front.
All the best,
Chris
