Binned my Cat
First topic message reminder :
It is with a heavy heart that I have to tell you I have come off the Cat.
While on a rideout in Snake pass I hit a bit of oil on one of the bends near the end on the down hill section. The back wheel lost grip and the bike went for a low side but then decided to grip and flip, I was sent flying and stopped just short of the Armco. The Cat was not so luck and hit the Armco hard with the top of the bike. :(
I just don't have the words to express how gutted I am.

Re: Binned my Cat
Looks like a poorly Cat. Don't have anything to offer in the way of spares as such, (some bullet indicators you're welcome to) but I think we know of a potential donor bike north of the border that you could probably salvage some spares from. Will just need a paint up.
Like you've said though take a couple of days for reflection (and to mend yourself) and then take it from there!!
Good luck mate, I'll be happy to give you a lift if you need any help.

Gutted for you mate, as said by many before the bike is replacable and flesh and bone seems to be ok. Fingers crossed it don't cost too much to get back up and running.

Re: Binned my Cat
You could always streetfighter it? Saves the hassle and cost of bodywork. Just a left-field option, if getting mobile is more important than looking good.
I don't have much to offer; a standard screen and exhaust but that's about it, but you can have them if it helps.

Re: Binned my Cat
Sorry to hear of your news John but thankfully you're in one piece and as others have said the bike is only metal.
Hopefully you'll soon be fit and well and be able to get back on two wheels again. I hope so, so when I get to Hunny next year you can buy me some chips.

Re: Binned my Cat
Looks nasty chap...But as others have said, it isnt that bad.
The bent nose of the bike can be sorted real easy, as it is jusat a tube frame, you might be able to bend it back into shape?
I have a headlight and a standard screen, I also have a front fairing, but it is red and has a small amount of damage to it. (LS near the mirror mount)
PM me if you are interested.
Leave it a few days and go back to it. Your main concern should really be your health.......And thank goodness you are relatively OK!!!
Bikes can always be fixed!!

Re: Binned my Cat
Better the bike than you John, good job you weren't on when it gripped and flipped.
Look after yourself, and hope to see you out next year, whether yours is fixed or you have another machine.
If you decide to have a go at a repair and want a hand, i'm not too far away, but don't be surprised if it ends up with the engine fitted backwards and somehow has indicators from a ford cortina...

:( gutted for you mate, heart wrenching pics. Glad you are here to tell us the story...
....Tom will have plenty of spares soon enough no doubt. I have seat you can have (although yours looks like it escaped injury)
I hope you heal both mentally and physically quickly.

Re: Binned my Cat
Insurance called.
He was a nice Yorkshire man but I did let him know my thoughts on the service I had had. He seemed to take it very seriously and will be passing it on.
BLD are going to be collecting the bike to make their assessment and if BER and falls in the correct catagories then I will be given the option of buy back.
Good News/ Bad News is I had kit cover, will need to find out how much though, bad news is I am down for £400 excess, I was sure that it was £250 so need to check my paperwork when I get home.
Will keep you informed.
I have some pictures on my phone of the rideout (prior to accident) so will try and get them off today and post up.

I'm with Adrian Flux who are agents for Bike Sure.
BLD is the company handling repairs. They have just contacted me and I will get a call later to arrange time for collection tomorrow.
Very speedy so far after the initial farce.

Re: Binned my Cat
I know I'm posting like mad but things are moving quickly, If I decide to buy back the Cat what price should I be looking at?
With an excess of £400 and buy back price, it's not going to leave much but emotional attachment is 80% of my decision here and I just cant be clinical about it.
My biggest conscern is still straightning the framework under the nose cone/screen so that a new one will fit plus not keep cracking screens or body work.
Never know, I may rename my Cat to Phoenix.
Your input is welcome.
John.

Hi Steve,Snowcat wrote:I can probably pick your lid up from Glossop if that helps??
I have sent the guy a message but even if I get it to you I would still have to get it to me, not in a condition to drive up to you at present.
I will wait for a reply and let you know but thanks
for the kind offer.

Re: Binned my Cat
OK.
Thanks to Weasley for his posting in Workshop to the CSMN with micro fische diagrams, I can now see that the stay that holds the cowling is actually bolted where I thought it was welded so feeling a lot more confident now.

Re: Binned my Cat
Sorry to hear of your off John, take it easy could take a few days for bruising or places you'd never dream could hurt to start.
If you'd like an offline version of the parts fiche, have a look in my download area - there's a parts listing there. I can't remember if it has your colour code in there, could make life easier if it did - you could always get the parts and make a red bike

I know what your saying but sitting around relaxing makes it worse, keeping focused on something helps get through the aches. Now given into pier pressure and have Doctors later today.SteveCat wrote:Sorry to hear of your off John, take it easy could take a few days for bruising or places you'd never dream could hurt to start.

Yep I would, color doesn't matter as she will be resprayed. She will have a slightly different scheme when she's reborn, only slightly. Are you referring to your BT Download area?
