Wounded 'Cat
First topic message reminder :
Coming off a traffic controlled roundabout, car driver jumped the red light and drove into the side of my bike. Her car was virtually undamaged and I had to tell her three times to pull over as she wanted to drive off with me and my bike lying in the middle of a major junction!
Keep running through the scenario in my head, and I know I checked the junction as I entered it and there was no movement. Rush hour traffic, so dozens of witnesses and two guys stopped to give me details (both couldn't believe what she'd done and she had cut one guy up further up the road), and at least half a dozen stopped to check if I was OK.
Can't decide whether I want to cry or get really annoyed, my poor 'Cat is damaged a little over two weeks after I bought it.
The crash bungs I fitted YESTERDAY saved the fairings, but:
Crash Bung
Front Brake Lever
Rear Brake Pedal
Micron Exhaust dented & scraped
Pillion foot peg bent down
Frame paint scraped from rear foot brake lever
Scraped Indicator
Scraped Mirror
Popped seam on jacket
Scraped Helmet
Scraped kevlar jeans
So upset my poor bike is damaged when I was so proud of it's condition.
I've given the details to an accident management company, so we'll see how it goes.
Andy

Re: Wounded 'Cat
Hi Andy,
Chin up! Fingers crossed.
I hope you get the news you want and are back on two wheels asap.
An off, of any kind, takes a while to get over. Glad you're OK. There's no point going over 'what-ifs', just get through the pain of dealing with the insurance etc and get back to riding as soon as you can. Then you'll be a much wiser rider and can put this all behind you.
Let us know how you get on.
Cheers,
Chris

Re: Wounded 'Cat
Thanks Chris
Just peeved, I've had a few occasions where I've really wanted a run out on the bike, but the CBF600 is such a nasty bike to ride, it just destroys any motivation I have!
At least I'm riding and not developing any "fears".
The 'Cat is still sitting here, waiting for the insurers to decide what they're doing with it (If they don't repair it, I'll be buying it back!).

Re: Wounded 'Cat
She's a Cat D uneconomical repair write off
I currently have every intention of putting her back on the road. Is the CAT D tag on her going to cause an issue with future insurance etc??

Re: Wounded 'Cat
Just an update on the Honda CBF600 - it gives the same fuel economy as the 'Cat at 52mpg... I was hoping for better to be honest! Comparing a 2001 and a 2009 bike, I expected an improvement.
Still waiting for the third parties insurance company to play ball, bored of this now!
