Post  burnafrique Thu Jan 28 2010, 12:19

Hi People,

My name is Sola. I got my thundercat last July.
Actually started riding about a year ago with a 2004 Kawasaki Ninja 250.

My Thundercat is just fabulous. I'm so glad I found this forum. I need to get all the info on maintenance because right now, my gear change from 1 to 2 is not as smooth as it used to be.

It's good to be here though. My thundercat's the silver one.

Welcome welcome.

Glad to see you. Sorry to hear of the 'classic' 1st to 2nd gear thundercat problem. If you use the site search engine I'm sure you'll find more on that topic.

Nice looking silver cat btw Cool

What are the roads like out there ?

Cheers

Welcome Sola,

Whereabouts in Nigeria are you? My colleagues in Lagos have seen pics of my bike, but said they haven't seen any there.

Hopefully your gear problem isn't serious. You can look on ebay (UK) for the decals.

Hi Steve,

Thanks for your comment. You've got friends here? Do they ride?

We've got few good roads here but the good thing is we have no speed limits. So I'm able to hit 200km/hr in some straight roads within town.

I got a site www.bikehps.com but unfortunately I was told they couldn't process my transaction beyond a certain limit and so had to terminate.

I buy all my gear on amazon.co.uk but unfortunately they do not have decals. Most of the other sites I stumble upon require me to have a pay pal account and I can't because of my location.

So, that's where I find myself. Any ideas?

I don't think that it really helps - but maybe...
Styleworks - Austria
This site is unfortunately in German Rolling Eyes (unfortunately for you - not for me Wink )
There are a lot of decals for Yamaha - and for the :yzf:

Maybe you find a go-between with a paypal account
But it is possible that you have to pay the postage twice Neutral

We have two offices in Lagos and one in Abuja, some of the guys have worked in our London office for a while. All but one wouldn't get close to my bike. I offered the one brave soul a tour of London on the back of the bike, but he refused (not that I would have enjoyed riding through the world's biggest car park anyway).
They all think I'm totally insane, but ask about the trips and ride outs I do and like to see the pics and videos. Seeing me in my leathers surprises and shocks - quite different from a tie Smile

Wow...... A 'Sola' powered Thundercat.

Sorry couldn't resist the pun. I'm only jealous of the amount of sun you get.
This site gets more and more international by the day.

Welcome to the site.....I hope you find answers to your questions here. Nice bike too.

If you ever fancy reversing Euan McGregor and Charlie Boorman's adventure and do "The Long Way Up" to John O' Groats be sure to pay us a visit.

Welcome. I have owned my Thundercat for 10 years and really love it. I don't normally associate that part of Africa with Sports bikes...is there many over there? Could you post some pics of your ride-outs??

2000 Thundercat in Nigeria Empty The Front Forks on my Thundercat are leaking.

Post  burnafrique Fri Jun 04 2010, 13:55

Hello People,
I noticed my front forks of my bike were leaking and so I had the oil seal changed but not long after the oil was making a mess again.
What could be the problem? Any ideas?

Are the shocks pitted, rusted or scratched at all? This can cause the seals to pack up and leak (even new ones)
