Hi everyone I’m new to the forum.
I owned a 2002 600 Thundercat about 10 years ago but I sold it to a friend- my friend has now offered the back to me because he has not been using it and it has been sat idle in the garage for the past couple of years (what a waste). Anyway when he tried to start the bike there was a strong smell of petrol and some leaked onto the floor. It was collected by a garage who have since looked at the bike and have found fuel leaking into the engine but apparently cannot find the cause? Does anyone have any similar experience I suspect it’s a carb issue having been left idle - perhaps some perished seals but not sure what / how easy to fix ? I would love to get the bike up and running again- it’s in great condition and only done about 15k ?

The most likely cause is a sticking float or float needle valve. Working on the carbs in situ is quite fiddly, so it might be best to take them off and give them a throrough check and clean. A Haynes manual is your friend.

Good luck - Bob H
