Sad News: Rider Down - The Catlass - Gail Richards

Mainly for Gail Richards friends, of whom there are many on here... Not the best way to explain but the only way to let many of you know.

I'm just getting details through Facebook friends and the Biker FM page at the moment;


Gail Richards has passed away this afternoon in a road traffic accident on her motorcycle near Settle. The police are attending and Amber is coping but don't think it's hit her yet. Amber her daughter who is still very young. And still in secondary school.


Totally shocked, and if anyone has any contacts to find out further details, then please keep me informed.

I remember many nights staying up way too late on the old MSN chat room with Gail and others bantering away. She was also a big presence at Welshpool and other ride outs.

My condolences and best wishes to her family. Very sad news indeed.

I found out through a post by the Biker FM guys on Facebook.

I'm still trying to get some more details, as it's something I just don't want to believe.....

We have a link to biker fm on the rolling banners . . . . From when "BikerFM" was in it's infancy . . . .

That is down to Gail and her infectious personality . . . .

Her live BikerFM shows on a Friday night were always worth a giggle . . . . and she always had time for a shout out for us on the Thundercats forum.

She will be sorely missed here on our forum.

Her name cropped up this afternoon when we were chatting at the end of Stretchie's rideout. Terrible news.

Am shocked,, and she didnt do the last show due to losing her voice,,, our thoughts are with amber ,, jeez just cant believe this !!!

This is the news I've dreaded the site would one day have to air.
Just spoken to Matt who, like many of us, knew Gail well when she was an active member of the site and a pillar of the group. All a bit shocked and upset at the moment.
Trying to find out more details and ask anyone who does find out more to share it on here.

That's terrible news, as Bob said, we were talking about her only today. Very sad to here this and my thoughts go to those she leaves behind.

I've always remembered Gail fondly, making me feel very welcome when I first joined the MSN site and then entertaining us all by locking her keys under her seat on a regular basis.

Catlass will be sorly missed alway a barrel of fun and as stretchie said was always locking her keys under her seat or wanting a wee have a lot of memories of gail she will be sadly missed. But poor Amber. One thing about gail was she always gave her all and wanted to be the best.

i sit here numbed at the news of the sad lost of a very good friend if there are any spelling mistake,s im not seeing to well at the moment

shocked ! Gail was a big personality. saw her last year at the TT were she was on top form. she will be sadly missed. my thoughts and sympathys go out to amber.

Such sad news the loss of life, especially a fellow biker, as Paul said I never had the privilege of knowing her but send my condolences to her family and the ones she's left behind.

I've just registered on here after hearing about this awful news. ='o( Like everyone else, I'm in total shock. Gail was such a lovely, helpful, warm, caring person who will be missed by so many of us. My heart goes to her family and especially to her daughter, Amber.

I'll always remember the long (very) late nights chatting on MSN. The Welshpool trips and the good times we all shared there... despite the rain! There were so many laughs, tears, smutty comments and of course plenty of brandy! It's hard to smile at times like this but in time the tears will dry and the smiles will return.

Thanks for being a part of my life, Gail. I'll miss you. xx

We are sitting in a service station in Holland. Can't believe the news. We are all Gutted. Gail hasn't been on the site much recently but was always plugging us on her slot on Biker FM. Fond memories of sharing a bottle of Brandy with Gail at Rosco's house with Mechy and Greencat while they were up visiting Kev.
We will miss you!!!
