Solo Seat Cowls Empty Solo Seat Cowls

Post  biscut Sun Dec 23 2012, 20:46

Hi all

I suspect I know the answer but will ask the question just on the off chance I am wrong...solo seat cowls for the thundercat, can I get one that's designed/listed for the R6 or are they a different shape or fit differently ? (wondered as the Tcat is a detuned R6 from what I have read). I have seen them advertised on ebay etc for 60 quid for the Tcat but only 23 for an R6 one ? Anyone have any experience or knowledge about them ?

Thanks very much for any help or pointers...am happy if the answer turns out to be "stop being a scrooge and cough up the extra" :-) but thought i would at least ask

Merry Christmas one and all...

Firstly, the Thundercat is not a detuned R6; there is effectively nothing in common and the Cat predates the R6 by 3 years.

Next; the Thundercat has a single seat and the R6 has a dual seat; this means with an R6 you can just replace the pillion seat with a cowl but with the Thundercat you need to modify the single seat to take a cowl, and effectively bolt it on to the back of the seat.

Yeah I looked at the site and they were quoting 75 for it so hoped I could get away with getting one for the R6 but I guess not LOL,

Hi Weasley, thanks for the info, thought I read somewhere about it being detuned but guess I must have imagined it.

I think the only thing the Thundercat shares with the R6 is the front brake calipers.

Unless you see a cheapy on fleabay your only Real option is Pyramid Plastics, they are specifically designed to fit, as Weasley said over the seat, they look pretty good though.

Hi Biscut,

I still have a silver Pyramid Plastics one kicking about in the garage.

It seems to be the "Communal Cowl", as it was first owned by Catlass, who passed it on to me - And I no longer have use for it as I now have an R6.

It has given many years loyal service so is not in perfect condition, as illustrated in the pic below where I have tried to point out some of the more visible nicks, chips and scratches.

[You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]

However, if you do want it, I'll let you have it for a donation to a charity of your choice, equivalent to the cost of me posting it out to you (Which I'll let you know later).

Let me know. left thumb up

Hi Matt
Yes please, would really like it, drop me a pm with how much it will cost you to send it and I will send over my address. As for the nicks/chips etc then that wont matter at all, am sure I can sort them out pretty easily.

Thank you very much, i really appreciate it.

Just as an addition, I was looking/hoping to pay the equivalent of the ones I saw on ebay for the R6 which were around the 25 mark so have made a donation to the salvation army for that amount...happy to pay your postage costs too if that helps with the warm fuzzy feeling :-)

Somehow I have managed to click on this post to vote ? didnt know that was enabled or is it just my computer that shows it ? very odd.

The Kudos & Thanks ("like") Buttons have been activated for a trial run.
A thanked-Liked post will turn rosé (for the moment) - that colour can be ammended.

The top r/h/s (right hand side) of posts, close to the avatar within the msg window there is a + & - icon. + to give a point & - to subtract a point, click the "like" button to give +3 points. The like button is at the top of the msg window where the quote, multi-quote etc. buttons are.

(Queue punxatawny phil with all sorts of suggestions !!)
