I've been a bit quiet, been made redundant

hi folks, im still here and still horsin around but ive just lost my job of the last 20 years and its been a pants few weeks.

horses are well, bikes running ok and im enjoying a lazy life


had a good interview and have 2 more to attend

Folks on here are good at keeping you up when you think lifes a bit of a bugger. I know. It happened to me.

Like others have said, enjoy the rest while you can, I'm sure you will get another job soon and then you'll regret not doing as much as you can.

20-24 years in the same place?
I get bored after 6 years and the longest I've been with the same mob is 8 years.
Way I see it, a change is as good as a rest, but it's going to be a kick in the plums (lack of plums in this case is noted) if you were settled.

Had the redundancy gun put to my head a few times over the years. View as a bit of break and then get an enjoyable new role, no point being down. After 20 years perhaps some new challenges were in order anyway! Longest stint I have done anywhere is 9 years.

I worked for a large rail renewals firm that went bust - 20 years gone in seconds along with all the contractual redundancy pay that went with it :(

Still 2 years on and a few contracting appointments later I'm in my dream job.

Good luck - I don't know you but I know how you feel, the same has happened to me more than once :( Enjoy your little holiday, a new job will no doubt turn up just as the weather gets really nice :/
