Selling my cat Empty Selling my cat

Post  firemaster Sat Feb 11 2012, 15:42

I have my cat here now as the insurers have asked me to collect it and i think i now have possession of it, i will confirm this next week. If so, i will be putting it on ebay as spares as a lump as i dont want (or been told im not allowed) to strip it down and sell in bits. so if any one is interested give me a shout, not sure on how much to ask for it at the mo, seen some one put up £500 for one, any one have anythopughts on how much i should be asking for it Msg me.
it has a good back end (tank backwards), stainless steel downpipes and exhaust, was a darn good engine not sure if it suffered any serious damage but doesnt look like it except a few scratches.

as for me still recovering but consultant saying all coming along nicely.

What category of write off was it ? That governs what & IF you can sell it.
That they have said you can't strip it to sell the bits raises that and a few more questions.

Suppose what I'm saying is don't get caught with a useless hunk of plastic and metal it's illegal to sell as a whole or in bits and then have to pay to have it taken away and scrapped !

Insurance write off categories . . link

Just a thought . . . .

Ahh now the permission thing is the wife, she has said i am not to get out in the garage and strip it so its not the insurance company. i havnt been told what category but looking at the link i think it would be B, they reckoned it would cost £6000 to repair lol they never heard of ebay

it could be repaired if someone wanted to spend the time and money on it.
as i said i have to confirm with my solicitor that i can can sell it off. If they wont let me sell it then they can come collect it from me, im going to charge them for me having to pick it up anyway.

Unless I'm mistaken a cat B has to have the frame destroyed? Only cat C or D are able to be returned to the road?
