Visiting BigNige - any messages

Hi All,

I'm going to pop and see Nige this evening, so was wondering if any of you have any messages you'd like me to pass on?
For those of you who don't know he had an off and is in hospital in Boston.
I've got a list of those who wished him all the best in another thread.

I'm taking him chips, as I didn't think flowers would be appropriate!
Did think of taking him a pie, but he's already got tender kidney in a crusty shell so I won't bother

I'll post up an update over the weekend.

Well I paid Nige a visit lat night and it was good to see him sitting up in bed if a little uncomforatbly (see pic below).
Yes, that is a bruise on his left arm and a pretty impressive one! Apparently it's doing the multi-colour change routine and I was privileged to see it entering the green stage!

Fortunately he was wearing all the right gear when he came off the bike so although that's a mega bruise he has no broken bones or abrasions. I saw a couple of pics of his gear and it took the brunt and saved his skin - glove knuckles worn out, helmet badly scrapped and jacket scuffed and torn but still intact.

Whilst taking a corner, for whatever reason, it sounds like the bike low sided and he and it took separate trajectories across the other lane. Fortunately no other vehicles were involved and Nige stopped without hitting anything else. Unfortunately he went down with quite a bump and did some damage to one of his kidneys. Ever the trooper, he dismissed the ambulance, supervised the recovery of the bike and got home before realising it was actually quite sore (BTW that's an understatement!).

So now he's under going careful observations and recuperation in hospital for a week or more. I'm told tonight he's been allowed out of bed to sit in a chair, which is great news. He was on good form when I saw him and still the same old Nige - I took him a pork pie which he had with his morning coffee today!

He has been inundated with phone calls, texts, email etc, but hasn't really been up to responding as you can understand. I passed on all the good wishes and he says thanks. I'm sure he'll be back on the site as soon as he's home and feels up to it.

I'll post up any more news when I get it.

Thanks Chris for the update, brilliant news that Nige's recovery is coming on. I had a text from him in the week from his hospital bed & its great to see he is still the dry humoured pie eating Nige we all love.

I hope he has a speedy recovery and both he and his bike get fixed as soon as possible.
