i was moving home. and have no internet of 4 weeks. bike is off road :( damaged insurance gonna repair everything

Ah well, least you got it back (tho I'm not so sure I'd want mine back if someone took mine thinking about it in case they'd thrashed it) - glad insurance company are sorting it out for you - hopefully you'll be back on the road soon.

You had a 1998 Cat . . . . broke it . . . Insurance offered £1500 as the going rate to replace it. You were happy to accept this as a settlement payment. . . Therefore making the replacement rate for a 1998 Cat fifteen hundred quid.

Mateyboy comes along (staffordshire_steve), and has a 1998 Cat for sale @ £1500 (the afore mentioned agreed going rate) as a replacement bike.

i think i may be missing something here - my only consolation is it seems that most of us appear to be missing the same thing - surely it would work out you're getting a better bike (when you take into account the spec of the one on offer against the one you had) that is ready to go and basically - because of the insurance payout - all you'd actually need to pay out of your own pocket is your travel costs - you soon (or i do anyway!) notch up 200 miles on a day out on the bike - going by what it costs me to fuel the bike (£22 just under last time i fueled from red light) and if i can usually get around 200 miles out of her on a full tank (more if i use all the gears! ), if you got yourself organised you could ride it back - i'm not seeing a problem here (maybe it's because i'm old!) :silent:

Try and dress as warmly as you can. Break your journey up into small rides for example think of them as three 100 or four 80 mile trips. I'd guess you'll be on the motorway, stop at the services. Walk about, if you are cold go inside - you don't have to buy anything. If your hands are cold, warm them up with the hand driers in the toilets.
Drink water, or you could buy a hot drink.

You shouldn't have to worry about the bike, I'm sure you would have checked the tyres, brakes chain etc. before buying.
You would want to check the map on your route home, look for a place to refuel around to 180 mile mark (the bike ought to do 200 before reserve though). This gives you a chance to find a petrol station at a decent price and you are not on the limit in case you get a bit lost or the bike is using more than expected.

Even if you miss out on this one there's still plenty of good bikes out there all really clean and very reasonably priced, keep your chin up mate.

i love that colour and mileage is amazing low. its what i want. and i need to visit some people in Manchester its great time. this is the best bike i can find. i tell him i can pay deposit :(
