Tyres (again!) Empty Tyres (again!)

Post  Guest Mon Feb 14 2011, 10:42

I know there's a lot of discussion been had about choice of tyres, but I'm just after a bit of info. Looking to put a new set on in next couple of weeks and was going to fit Avon Storm2 Ultras as I see nothing but praise for them. However, I can get Metzeler M3s for 30quid less. Anyone know how they are, esp re. longevity. I'm a pretty sedate rider and although I do ride in the wet, I prefer not to. But I'm on a budget - is the 30quid saving gonna be false economy if the M3s shred pretty quick?

I've got the Storm 2's on my BlackBird and Fireblade and think they are great

I had m3's on my blade and they were awesome.. i thought m3's were obsolete now???
Not the longest lasting but i found those tyres to be superb wet or dry and they got hot and sticky very quickly..
Can't compare them to the avon's as i've never had them...if the m3's are cheap then get them and see what you think..

Been running pilot powers on the Duc and swear by them..only get 2000 miles out a rear...but what a 2000 miles it is!!!!! Twisted Evil

I'd need therapy if I get less than 10 000 miles out of my Pilot Roads. They are pricey admittedly, but I think pence per mile they are excellent.

Think the thing to look out for is how quickly the tyre will square off.

Steve, I run the 2ct's which are dual compound but the V Twin torque just rips 'em up. It's pricey but I likes it!!!

In the end I went for the Avon S2Ultras. Got them back on the Cat but as I'm fumbling my way through giving her a service they're still brand spanking and I've no idea what I think of em yet.

Got Maxxis on Ellies 'cat, personally I was amazed by the grip for a cheapish tyre. I'd have no probs recommending them

I agree here I have an 021 fitted to my Cat as I am not a fan of Bridgestone anyway but bike came fitted with them so have to wear them out. But yes this tyre is not good.. I don't seem to get much feel from it at all not sure what you found with it.
