I PX'ed my 'Cat in March when I bought the Tracer, I've been back to the dealer a couple of times since and saw the  thundercat  outside the workshop, looking pretty much as it was when I traded it in.

Was in there last Saturday and didn't see the bike outside, go in and there it is on display. I did a double take on the sale price and felt they had done me over good and proper, but I think they have spent a fair amount of time getting her back to showroom glory - even selling with a 12 month warranty.

click me , I'm getting over the shock. Maybe I should have taken the bike there years ago for them to have sorted it out.

They've certainly washed it Steve.
Your bike always looked like mine (maybe not quite as dirty) when I saw it.

They've gotta earn a buck but it hurts a bit all the same I'd guess.

That seems a little salty for a Thundercat.

As I commented in both Weemac and BC reviews you and the Tracer seem to be getting along fine...

wow that's a steep price for a cat, I know its a dealer but you can get decent tidy private sale bikes for a grand less!

i've ummed and aahed at changing my cat a few times, but still haven't managed to do it.

maybe one day though....

Thank you Tony, I've always had sit up and beg bikes prior to the 'Cat, so possibly getting back to my roots.

Fair play to them and the buyer, who I hope will join us on this forum and not feel like they have been done over. Maybe I was close to sorting out all the problems after all but had enough trying. Nope no regrets.

Strangely enough I was going to post up about my shock of passing a dealer the other day with a late model blue cat for sale for £2799, its funny how we all say about how much of a great bike the cat is but then are all surprised when someone actually tries to sell one for decent money lol and I guess that's the nature of bike shops, they are not going to go to all the hassle of paying rent, bills, staff, cleaning and fixing up the bikes to then earn £100 on selling on a px ... they pay you way under what its worth and sell it for way over.

Incidentally how much did they give you for the px Steve? (don't feel obliged to answer that)

Px is a just one of the variables.

e.g

Dealer1
Cost of new bike = 10,000 RRP
px = 2000 and dealer says they can give you a deal @ £9,500
Therefore Cost of selling current bike and getting new one = 9500 - 2000 = £7500

Dealer2
Cost of new bike = 10,000 RRP
px = 2500. Dealer will sell @ 10,000
Therefore cost of selling current bike and getting new one = 10000 - 2500 = £7500

Dealer X
Cost of New bike = 10,000 RRP
Sell current bike privately and offer cash to buy new bike
Dealer will sell @ 9,000
You managed to sell your bike for £1500
Therefore cost of selling current bike and getting new one = 9000 - 1500 = £7500

All completely different but they all had the same overall cost.  You did get a great px price at dealer 2 (but it didn't get you the bike any cheaper)

A bit like buying an item that is expensive with cheap postage versus the same item that is cheap with expensive postage.  You gotta do your sums and not get taken in by just one variable.

People do get a bit more peace of mind (some kind of warrranty etc.) when buying from a dealer so it will nearly always be more expensive to buy a used bike at a dealers rather than private sale.

Have you seen the price of the CBR600 from the same dealer,
Only 12 months newer than the 'cat but £1100 MORE!!!
It was between the CBR & the Cat for me but got the Cat at a bargain!!!

Milchelin Pilot Road's can't remember now if I went with 4's or 3's, think it was 3's.

I do know I'll be putting 4's on the Tracer in the next couple of weeks - bit eye watering, but decent boots are in order. Could have 'saved' £80+ by having them done in France, but seeing that would be a special trip it not much of a saving - but a decent ride tho' Wink
I've been known to do silly things like that, like having the first service done in Hilversum, The Netherlands (but I was in the neighbourhood at the time!).

On the German forum the Pirelli Angel GT appears to be the tire of choice Wink Have had that one on the MT-09 for the last 5000-ish kilometers as well and am very happy with it. Should still be good for another 2-3000... left thumb up
Probably will need a new set just before our Alps trip...

umm I had hoped maybe could have gotten away with it Wink getting a new tyre before each rideout could get a tad eye watering Shocked yeah will be eying out the wear on the 4's in Spain, cheaper in France than the UK, so could be a consideration - thanks.
The Dunlops on it have been OK, I've done 4 700 miles and they still good for another thou I'd guess, others have worn theirs out withing 2 500 miles.

Mine came with the BT S20 and they were gone after only 3000km Shocked

Angel GTs are great tyres, I had them on the FJR1300. Couldn't fault them, wet or dry.

Was in the dealers again Saturday for a pannier lock recall. Took a quick sneaky look in the showroom and the Thundercat is still there, not sure about the CBR, looks like they are holding out for their price.

Tyre wise, I put on PR4's on the Tracer and have done over 5 000 miles on them, the side wear is sort of telling me the suspension set-up isn't right - guess I still have 2k miles left in them. Apart from the first day in Spain where they slipped all over the place they have been brilliant, then the Alps where I think the PR4's had an advantage over other tyres, just a pity the pilot was useless in the bad weather.
Might be foolish, but am thinking I can sneak another quick blast to the continent on them.
