Thundercat tweaks!

Gt my first Cat, and im just curious about what members done to improve it. The gear box , seems..well alot to be desired, my bandit gearbix was a lot slicker. I tried a few cats and it seemed common dog with them.
But what has the community done to Cats thats now common after market fixes

Make sure your chain and sprockets are in good condition and adjusted correctly, decent exhaust, good oil and air filter and that's about it from me,

It badly needs new chainset which is gettin ordered tomorrow.

That could be the reason for the rough gear changing. I've found that mine is a bit slicker when the chain is adjusted correctly.

You could also replace the rubber brake lines with some braided stainless steel items, unless that has already been done.

Yep new chainset is must, been looking at Goodridge lines for brakes, had them for bandit...fookin night n day!

There's a definite technique for smooth gearchanges. Take your time, stroke the lever, don't stab at it, and keep your toe on it until the clutch is biting and you're sure the gear has gone in.

I know some do clutchless upshifts, personally I prefer a "half-clutch" method, i.e. just pull the clutch in to the bite point, no further.

I try to get into second before revs are high cos it sure doesnt like that 1st to 2nd transfer!

Change the fork oil and replace it with slightly heavier weight oil... use 10WT as opposed to 5WT IIRC. (It's been a while since I had my 'Cat).  While you're on with the front end, drop the yokes down the fork legs about 15mm, (i.e. - so there's about 15mm of fork tube visible above the top yoke) it'll sharpen up the steering a bit without making it twitchy.  

Change the fork oil for 10w as above (and change springs if either higher mileage or just old), get suspension set up possibly new shock but that costs £££s but would be worth it and RRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRIDE the mutha

I'd agree with the fork oil sap to 10w I did this when I dod the fork seals, springs and rear shock are fine on mine for the minute, think they were done by previous owner...
