Wee Mac 2018 SIGN UP - May 4th -> May 7th - Selkirk (Rideout over TWO days)

Post  Rosco on Tue May 23 2017, 23:26

First topic message reminder :

Hi All

In a bizarre moment of organisation I've provisionally booked Broadmeadows House in Yarrrowford just outside Selkirk again since Wee Mac 2012, 2013, 2014, 2015, 2016 & 2017 were brilliant and the digs were great value, stunning and gave us a great base.

CHECK IT OUT - HERE

Selkirk and Galashiels aren't too far away if you want to book your own accommodation - most of dad's army stay near here every year.

In April 2012 most of us stayed in Broadmeadows and a few stayed at the other local accommodation which was just down the road (unless you follow Cath back - sorry Cath).  If there is over-spill from Broadmeadows then we can certainly use this again.

In April 2013 most of us stayed in Broadmeadows and a few stayed at other accommodation in Selkirk.

Read up on WeeMac 2014 HERE
Read up on WeeMac 2015 HERE
Read up on WeeMac 2016 HERE
Read up on WeeMac 2017 HERE

Some rooms are doubles only, some are SuperKing with the option to split into singles (twin room) and some are dedicated twin rooms so the singles will need to share.

So what do I need to know - I NEED people to commit on this page to get your name on the priority list if you want to stay at Broadmeadows.  The first 18 and possibly up to 22 will (unless I hear otherwise) have their space guaranteed when they pay their initial £20 deposit to hold the accommodation. Everyone else will be on the reserve list for Broadmeadows in the order they signed up.

By 1st June 2017 - £20
By 29th September 2017 - a further £20 deposit
By 2nd March 2018 - a further £90

Total = £130 (note this doesn't account for the full food and drinks (and entertainment) bill which I expect to be around another £30 or so)

We've had drop-outs every year so those places will be filled in order of the sign-up list.

Costs - I've worked out approximate costs as follows

Big Hoose (3 night stay) will be a cost of approx £150 - we NEED to fill this  (10 spaces)
Rest of Broadmeadows (3 night stay) will be a cost of approx £150 (4 + 4 + 2 = 10 spaces)
There are two additional beds that they can supply for our use and this will be same cost. I've been in them twice and they are well comfy.

At the moment we've only provisionally booked 18 spaces but can hopefully book more if required.

This cost will pay for your accommodation and supplies for breakfast.
We then buy supplies for evening meals and drinks add on any shortfall or subtract any overpayment and then split this between everyone.

Cost vary but in 2015 the grand total (initial total £100) was about £147 (we had some empty spaces though)
I'm hoping the grand total will be not more than £150 for a three night stay - that includes all food and drink Smile- Dinner, bed and breakfast and costs for 2016 were very similar.

It really is a 5 star stay for a 3 star cost Wink

I NEED people on the list to confirm and pay a initial deposit £20 PP by Thursday 1st June so I'll be looking for people to get their deposits to me before then to REALLY book your place.
You can't please all the people all the time but we'll do our best.

If you have to cancel you will only lose your deposit if we can't find a replacement.
If lots of people cancel then we've got a problem that will have to be shared - but hopefully that won't happen.

Hopefully everyone will get the right room but there might need to be a bit of jiggery-pokery in the sleeping arrangements if you know what I mean.

The RIDEOUT is a TWO day event with one on Saturday 5th May 2018 and one on Sunday 6th May 2018.
Please note that folks who wish to attend the event are welcome to organise their own accommodation.

Will also be looking for volunteer chefs, assistant chefs nearer the time.  Everyone needs to muck in though.

SIGNUP

e.g.
Rosco (Ross) + 1
require a double or two singles depending on who I can talk into attending.

Bravepill6 (Euan) - Might be my +1 or he might be looking for a ride.
require a single whether he's beeacthing for Rosco or not.

The MASTER LIST is HERE which I'll edit as folks sign up and send me some dough.

Cheers
Rosco

I used to get those spasms in my left hand often while riding a bike but not had any since the start of last year, touchwood. Depending on weather, depends on the bike that goes and route but your mightily welcome to join the trip up Steve.

I've got either two routes that I'll do depending...

1:- A1 - A66 - Barnard Castle - Alston - Brampton - Carlisle - M6 - Moffat - Broadmeadows. ( kinda direct )

2:- A1 - Leyburn - Hawes - Ingleton - Sedbergh - Brough - Bowbank - Alston - Brampton ect as above. ( an extra few miles ).

Is this the best excuse you could muster when you found out I'd be there and didn't want to wash my bike again? What a Face

Jamie, so sorry to hear you are in so much pain, the above was a silly joke and I wrote it in strike out mode from the start, I hope you recover very soon. Have you been able to seek medical advice? I've had similar a good few times and found stretching has helped me, however the thought of doing that right now is probably off the radar and best not attempted without prior professional advice.

I'm sure you are more gutted than we are if you aren't up for it but I, for one, fully understand.

For now may we leave the meeting Rob @ the Shell garage, I'm leaning more 90+% sure I'll be there.

That's crap news - hope you feel better soon mate.

Even the weather forecast looks decent, fairly warm and dry the whole weekend. Be a shame if you can't make it but 4 days on a bike with a bad back is probably not going to be a great experience even in good weather.

That's crap news.
Hope you get well soon.

If you get well enough to endure a car journey maybe you could still attend?

Let us know when you can.

Jamie,

Hopefully it will be a miracle and the pain will be long gone by Friday. (Fingers crossed)

Rob,

I'll be trundling up the A1 way. What time do you expect to get to Scotch Corner? We could meet there. Mind you I might slow you down on the remainder of the trip. :-)

Looking forward to the ride out. My last and only trip out before the wedding. Shocked

See you all Friday.

Rich.

Hi Rich, I'm sure Rob will be along soon and be able to let you know timings.

I've decided I will be tagging along with him and hopefully Mr & Mrs JamBerryKing. Rob has posted two possible routes, one looks like it does take in Scotch Corner but instead of staying on the A1(M) we'll be heading Alston and Carlisle way, the other sees us turning off before SC and heading via Leyburn and doing what I was once famous for 'heading in the wrong direction' part of the way to take in some really good roads. I've only plotted the second option as that's the one I am hoping for, it's around 300 miles from our starting point in Hellaby (Rotherham area) - however the routing is open due to various factors.

Don't be worried about 'slowing down the remainder of the trip'  If Rob 'legs it', he'll wait for everyone at a turning.

Good evening Steve and Rich.

I agree with Steve on everything he wrote and if your up for it, we won't be quite going as far on the A1 to Scotch Corner. If you'd like, you could meet us at Leyburn, at the fuel station on the left hand corner. Roughly we'd be there around 11:40 and then an hour later, stop for dinner near the Ribblehead Viaduct as a butt rest and a grub up. It's a nice half/half run to the digs which I did last year and the 1st think that you'll go for at the digs is a bottle of nector.

Looking to be at Broadmeadows roughly at 6, as the sat nav somehow says nearly 7 hours plus a dinner break from Worksop. Weather looks to be quite fine this weekend up north ( even 19 degrees in Edinburgh on Sunday ) so the bigger bike gets an outing this weekend.

Absolutely looking forward to this weekend as it's the start of the biking year for me.

I can't wait to see you all again. :-)

Hi Folks

Wanna have a quick look through this lot to make sure I've not forgotten anything (or bought too much).

We've had a couple of call offs to might not need quite as much.

There's £400 worth of delivery here.

Should have all the stuff for Friday night (pizza's) including homemade guacamole, salsa and wedges, 3 days worth of breakfast and one of the Saturday night dinner options and lots of light refreshments.

Still to get (not on the tesco order) - Other saturday night dinner option, Sunday roast

Ross, all seems well. I can help with the cooking Sat night. Unfortunately I'll have to cry off and leave Sunday. Nothing serious but I would like to get back home a day early.

But it will still be nice to get out and about and see you all again.

I'll miss the Sunday roast as last years was rather special. Any entertainment planned? Wink

No MrsRadar I am afraid, Mandy is enjoying her new found Granny status too much and wants to keep close to the little one!

I will be bringing the Thundercat after a little bit of last minute servicing:

Are there T bags and sugar on the list I didn't notice any?

I need T!!

WD40 and a hammer, you have the Ross Barbour approved toolkit? Smile

I had to replace the oil and filter in the tracer this week too, and re-gap a plug on Gill's Fazer as it was only firing on 3 cylinders. Ordered some more but they didn't arrive it time to swap.

Hopefully everything starts and runs tomorrow....

Safe trip everyone!

It's the multi-tool of man, the hammer.

Sorted my oil changes a couple of weeks ago and blown out the cob webs of not really riding for 7 months.

I'll be bringing my chain lube at least....
