Hey, New member from the Scottish Borders/North Northumberland area. (well Berwick upon Tweed but we fall under the scottish borders category bike wise as bikers seem to stop at Alnwick tongue)

I swapped my bandit 12 for a thundercat on sunday. Insured it monday and crashed it monday night (Don't worry it's not hurt I'll link video at bottom of this post.)

I'm 19, passed my test 2 years and have had 7 bikes.

I'm addicted to two wheels, but have never found the right bike for me.

My first bike was a CBR125, naturally I quickly outgrew this once I passed my test.
Then came a 1985 Honda CBX750, which In my haste to get to work blew to smithereens because I hadn't checked the oil for god knows how long.
I bought a vespa at the same time as the honda as I wanted a winter hack, then I got bitten and kept the vespa after the CBX exploded.
Then came my 1990 thundercati 750 Sport, which I still miss as although it didn't work in bad weather. I sold this for that reason and the chairman of the Czech Republic thundercati Club sent over a truck and carted it over. I should mention it was 1 of 95 so although it wasn't any good at being a bike it's probably the rarest bike I'll ever own. Limited Edition silver and black.
Then I got rid of the vespa, it was too rusty for me to do anything with, weldings not my forte.
Then came the bandit 1200, I loved being 19 on a litre bike but it soon tried to kill me. It would creep past 100mph easily without me noticing until cars started pulling out and I had to slam on the anchors. I'm also a short arse so it was a right pain in the arse to push, work on and stop.
I then got a nice juicy tax rebate so bought myself another project vespa, painted it gulf blue and am currently waiting for the mechanic to finish his holiday to get it rebored.
Then I swapped the bandit for a thundercat, so far so good although I've had one crash, needs a new chain and sprockets after 4 days of owning it and it's abit tatty.

So on Monday I was riding through Hawick when me and a mate want to go to the chippy. I was looking for a suitable place to park, and didn't do a life saver. A scooter goes to undertake and guess what.

Please remember this is my mates footage, I have only uploaded it privately to show you guys. It will be public on his channel.
(plus it'll end up on compilation videos)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2o3Ay6uso4Y&feature=youtube_gdata_player

If someone could recommend a good chain/sprocket set I'd love to hear from you. Will hopefully get rest of year on this one however I doubt it.

Cheers, Alex

Hi and welcome Alex, some line up you've had. Nasty about the scoot incident. Links on this forum are only visible to people who are logged in.

Chain, I'd say DID - I get my set from Busters, kinda go the mid price range. The cheap ones I don't think will last and the expensive ones possibly an overkill.

Hi and welcome Alex.

Very good footage of a very stupid scooter rider.
He'll not last long with observation skills like that. He nearly fell off again in his getaway.
Even if you weren't indicating and turned left he'd have been in the wrong.

Was there any damage to you or the bike??

DID x-ring gold chain for me Smile

Your mate got the commentary spot on.

Desperate to know what was said after the incident....can you share?

Cheers

Hi and welcome pal, I agree that scooter rider was a F*cking idiot/pleb etc, he under cut your pal and then what he was thinking with you is beyond me, like Ross said even his attempted getaway was a glorious cock up. Afraid to say people like him tend to end up as statistics but its the trouble they cause in the event that live with others forever.

Hope your bike wasn't too beat up and you can move on and enjoy it, fantastic choice of bike you won't go far wrong with it, good luck pal.

Cheers

Hello, Cooper494.

welcome1 to the forum.

That scooter rider left the scene so quickly, almost like he didn't have any insurance... Question

Well . . . You have the scrotes number plate @ 0:31 seconds in on the recording. I'm sure Mr Plod could do something with it.
That's as long as, T40 says, "it's insured & Registered" and not nicked !

Welcome, shame about the scooter lol , as for chain I use DID xring gold one 12000 mile warrenty on them , I use my bike all year round and cover about 15000 miles a year I paid £130 fitted at my local mechanics

(Ps coulda warned about the language in vid , misses had a go at me as little is up and could hear your mate shouting LOl, nothing I wouldn't have shouted. I have really bad road rage at times, went out with my little brother he's a learnr on a 125 , a car undertook me going down a hill , at the bottom it turns into 3 lanes ,the car decided he needed the right lane an shot across infront of me and and making my bro avoid them and he nearly hit the railings in centre , the car got stopped at the lights so slammed on and stopped in middle of the road and went nuts at the bloke so he got out the car and pushed me ( at this point a police van came over the hill and could see us, we dident see him tho ) as he pushed I took off my lid , he pushed me again so I punched him , next the sirens went , explained what happened to the officer and the driver was reported for dangours driving, im not normally like that bike I'm very protective of my brother and he's a learner and had only been riding 2 weeks )

Thanks lads, the lad kept saying im so sorry is your Bike ok? I just said just pull over then he gunned it. He must be the smelly kid in hawick because his mate couldnt leave him fast enough lmao

Hopefully i'll be doing the hizzy run, my chains all warped and knackered so im abit scared to do any distance. I moved the chain to the tightest spot and adjusted it accordingly but the loosest spot has enough play to almost touch the swinger. God knows its probably hitting the swinger when.im riding it. Think the did chain will be the best answer, but won't be able to get it in garage till next week.

I havent got any good pics of the cat atm, its all a mix match of colours. Going to restore it over winter hopefully, just plastics and tank need a good clean. Plastics could use a repair too. The lad has scratched the rear panel pretty badly but I need me Bike for commuting, so if the insurance got involved I don't want my premium to go up, and can't let it spend ages in a garage tongue

Welcome aboard Alex, you've had a load of bikes for a 19 year old, some big engines too!

So which ones were restricted? Lol.

Good luck with the 'cat, great choice of bike.

Oops sorry Ellie didnt see your post, only the cbx was restricted. I soon realised that I had no power and it was more dangerous with them in and soon had them removed. Nothing like overtaking a lorry and taking 10 mins to clear it tongue

thundercati was the best tbh, 65 in first gear, great v twin tunes and looked nice haha
