First topic message reminder :

Sun 7th to Sat 13th September 2014

Now cancelled

Here's the hotel we're booked into: Hotel Forsthaus

And here some advertising for the Ring to give you an idea of what it's all about great

Some general Ring info, especially a Beginners Guide, can be found on this site: http://www.nurburgring.org.uk

And some info about the Eifel area is available here: http://www.eifel.de

And for another taster I just found this video... it's a promo video for a hotel near the Ring but from about 1 min onwards it's mostly about biking in the region. Worth a watch if you're still on the fence  left thumb up

A possible suggestion ...

Bob and Chris, how would you feel about sharing, not withstanding the concerns expressed earlier?
Mike and Simon can share the other twin. 1 x blockhouse, 1 x single and 1 double.

Another possibility could be to change from the Blockhouses to just doubles and singles...

Would increase the price per person though as those rooms are more expensive than a shared house...

Not calling it off just yet  nonofinger

Davie, are you definitely out or is there still a chance you can make it?

Ok... have taken you off the list for now. Thanks for still trying to make it though  left thumb up

Have done some maths to see where we're at with rooms and what the new prices would be...

If we take 1x Blockhouse (Pam&Steve + Simon&Mike) and 3x Singles for the rest of us that would take the price per person to about 190€.

Other option 2x doubles/twins (Pam&Steve + Simon&Mike) and 3x Singles would be about 220€ per person.

That's assuming those rooms are actually still available and we can get the discounted price they quoted for the original booking for the changed rooms!

What do you think? I'd be ok with either option.

I don't mind either Thomas, but if I had to choose one, I'd prefer the second option -  does push the price up for everyone though.

im easy either way but for the greater good, the 2nd option is the better one for everyone, particularly steve and pam so im happy to pay the extra. Im likely to be paying for this on my (already bulging) credit card, so I hope it doesng go up much more. I know youre doing your best thomas, thanks a lot.

Guys, thanks for replying.

Had some bad news from Simon and Mike now too though... Simon had to sell his bike and they'd only be able to come part of the week now... by car  sad

Think that really takes us below critical mass now and to be honest it's getting too complicated to carry on. I hope you all understand but I'm calling it off now... sadly.

I'll get in touch with the hotel and see if we can get back any of the deposit. Could you please PM me your bank (IBAN, BIC/Swift) or paypal details so I can transfer whatever comes back from the hotel?

Thanks for understanding  Crying or Very sad

Im so sorry its come to this thomas, I really was looking forward to it. I do completely understand though, I think I would have called it off a long time ago. Thanks for all your arranging and the time you have taken trying to sort it out. My credit card can breathe a sigh of relief.

Sorry to hear this hasn't worked out for all concerned.

Appreciate your efforts Thomas to organise and hope everything can be worked out with the hotel / deposits.

While I wasn't on the list this year I'd love to come along another year although my bucket list is full for 2015 already. Maybe 2016 for me.

Cheers
