Re: is anyone camping for bishops castle?
Hi Prime,
if I make it I will be camping but won't know very close to the date.
Eating wise I will be trying to eat out rather than cooking myself. Dial-a-pizza/ dial-a-curry etc if I can't blag my way into the group eatings. lol
Make sure you get yourself a Stand Puck for parking on grass.

Yes there will be others on Foxholes camp site. Some in the Eco Cabin, some in the Blockhouse, and others . . . like you under canvas . . . . or whatever tents are made of these days . . .
Rest assured . . . you're not alone, and the truth is out there, may the force be with you, live long and prosper . . . and, . . . oh yeah, . . . . . ride safe

You've gone and done it now, as soon as those clouds catch sight of your tent they'll be over like a shot
Great, sounds like you all set. I too hope the weather will be kind to us

Re: is anyone camping for bishops castle?
That's a tiny tent/handkerchief.
Nice price though.
If you get the bug you could maybe upgrade to a Vango Force 10 Tempest 200.
It'll give you a bit more room/weatherproofing and they're small enough to lug around the mountains strapped to the side of a rucksac, so should be ideal for the bike.
(They're not stupidly expensive either)

From experience, my tent advice is don't pitch it on an incline - especially door end down hill. You could wake to find the tent a good few feet behind you

Re: is anyone camping for bishops castle?
Vango Omega 200 is what I have, weighs 7kgs, packs to little more than the width of the bike and is great for weekend getaways on the bike. I got the tent, a double air bed, sleeping bag, gear and clothes for a weekend on the back of my Cat no problem.
End of the day it's somewhere dry to lay your head at night, luxury not a priority.
Chris don't forget to let me know what luggage you want to borrow, I've got tank bags, tail packs and panniers, you're welcome to borrow whatever you need

Re: is anyone camping for bishops castle?
That Omega looks the very job.
Been there with an old skool tent with no integral groundsheet.
Rolled out of it during the night and woke up in the long grass.......
......hold on.
Those bastards must have carried me out during the night.
The sides were pegged down.
That's taken me 30 years to realise.
(I also left my damp boots under the flap by accident one night on the Cairngorms in winter. It was -30 at night and the boots were like carved oak until I thawed them out. )
