Hi from Romania

Hi all !!! Yet another newbie in the club.

Finally signed for my cat these days, first big bike for me, I'll take it home as soon as the weather will allow (currently its freezing -18 degs).
Will be back with pics soon.

@Veterans - any wise thoughts about what to pay attention for on the first miles, is warmly appreciated

The bike model has been chosen for quite a while, but had to get my financials right (...and to fight my wife of course )

Hi and welcome, congratulations on getting your

-18C !! and I thought it was cold here

Firstly you'll need to get used to the bike being much bigger, heavier and more powerful than what you have ridden before.

Go easy on the controls, accelerate gently keep the revs down while you get used to it. It will start going a lot faster from about 5 000 rpm.
Also be gentle with the brakes they (should) work very well - maybe use 1 or two fingers to brake rather than your whole hand, you'll use less pressure on the lever.
The amount of front and back brake to use differs with riders, some don't use the back brake at all. I'm old school and do use both. In 'bad conditions' maybe as much as half front half back, more likely about 60% front and 40% back though. In good weather more like 75% front 25% back.(this ought to spark a debate )

Let your tires warm up, most don't work properly when cold.

There's other stuff, but wish for warmer weather and get out there and enjoy.

Welcome to the site. Congratulations on your choice of bike and respect for going ahead whatever SWMBO says!

Take it easy to start with. I don't know what the roads or traffic is like in Romania, but treat everyone as if they're gonna take you out. Build up your confidence and ability slowly, and learn from your mistakes - you'll know when you've made one!

Oh, and join a rideout sometime (ahh......might be a while as no plans for a detour your way, yet! )

How does Romania's roads, bikes, drivers compare to other countries?
I've gathered that it is colder than here in the UK so far.

Yeah, you may find all and every kind of roads over here - many for enduro/cross though - but the landscapes are amazing.
And in summertime it's really a pleasure to go out for a ride.

PS - placed a pic with the Cat as profile image... some may argue, but i love this paint scheme

Folks, big time here
My cat finally landed safely in my garage. It's heavier than expected, though... but luckily he (or she?) carries me and not the other way around. Will place some more pics when the weather will allow me to take him (or her?) out...

In English vehicles are considered female, however when it comes to a you can decide if yours is a he or a she.

Mine doesn't have a gender, and I usually just say 'it'.

It's whatever you want it to be - mine is a she - always has been - Sooty & Fi's is a he - erm..... think Alfie's is a she (but i stand to be corrected!) Amos called his bambi which i think was a he but it always struck me as a she so... maybe we should start a poll - we could have 3 categories - she - he - it !!! Nice looking bike by the way.

Oh and Toni ... don't you believe it = mine can be a right bitch if she doesn't want to come out to play and i do!!!
