Hi all, I'm Jamie, I've just joined the forum as after years of motocross and broke bones I've made the transition to road bike and bought my first bike a 98 thundercat with 29000 on it, blue in fiat Rossi livery and I'm loving it. I'm looking for any help possible with the bike so please send ideas forward. I have the wobbly indicators, blown speedo bulbs, poor headlight lol

Hi and welcome.

Have a look around in the forum, you'll see what bulbs you need and how to fit them as well as the bad headlight - don't hold your breath on the latter, it'll still not be great after whatever you do to it (except maybe change to the projector type). Not sure about the wobbly indicators, if you can't see anything about them, post up in the Workshop and we'll see what we can suggest.

Hi Jamie

Welcome aboard.
The Thundercat indicators are a little bit wobbly... you'll need to share a video of your wobbly bits Wink

I believe the Fiat Livery are chinese import fairings but I'd like to think the fittings are the same.....plastic with a hole in it.
Do you know if the indicators are aftermarket or standard thundercat ones?

The headlight is pants. Phillips (and others) do some fancy bright bulbs that help a bit.

You can get led replacement bulbs for the dash but they need to be not much bigger than the original wedge type bulbs or they won't fit.
I replaced my dash bulbs with red led ones but I think I left the fuel and oil ones were standard. The led ones need to be put in with the correct polarity - if they don't work turn them round Smile

Check out the "Something for the weekend" section if you fancy joining us on one of the organised runs.

Wee Mac and Big Mac will be your local ones but all of them are great Smile

Cheers

Hi and welcome
You can spend a good few hours going through the forums but it's well worth it for all the little idiosyncrasies of the Cat.
Oh, don't worry too much about strange noises
great

Hi, and welcome!  Pictures please!!

Porter-yzf wrote:I have the wobbly indicators...

Yep, they do that (I assume you mean the fronts?).  A little rattle as if they aren't tight?  Even if properly fitted they do this.

Porter-yzf wrote:...blown speedo bulbs...

Yep, they do that.  Plenty of advice on here about how to change them.  Do them ALL at the same time!  I replaced mine with standard bulbs of a slightly higher power.

Porter-yzf wrote:...poor headlight lol

Yep, they do that.  A brighter bulb helps (I have an Osram Nightbreaker in mine) but ultimately a proper HID projector retrofit is the best option (note the "projector" bit - not just an H4 HID thing).
