East Anglia ride out & BBQ, Sunday 16th August

Post by bignige on Fri Jun 05, 2009 9:08 pm

First topic message reminder :

Our Local landlord & his good lady (both active Motorcyclists) are holding a bikers BBQ on the afternoon of Sunday 16th August & have asked me to do a ride out before hand.
We will be starting at about 10:00am for a run of of approx 120 miles round some of the best roads Lincolnshire has to offer.
We will return to the pub for the BBQ at around 3.00 pm.
All proffits will go to the Air Ambulance, Several bike groups inc, Triumph owners club, SV1000, Wilshire possie & local bikers have been invited & so far numbers are already around 50 so we expecting this to be a good way to spend a Sunday & raise a few quid for charity.
As it's a Sunday we're thinking the more local Thundercat owners may be interested, not expecting too many folks from the ends of the country however any Forum member who wants to join us will be very welcome.
(postcode PE12 7NJ will give you a rough idea of the area - within 5 miles)
PM me if your coming / intersested & any questions.
regards Nige

We did start a weee bit earlier though I'll admit Twisted Evil . I'm sure this'll be a good day no matter what the weather, though an indoor barby might be a sight to see if the weather is inclement Laughing

Now THAT could be interesting. Laughing

Following yesterdays test run we have the final route. approx 140 miles
(its a cracker, varied roads & pretty vilages & nice scenery)

Absolute Start point The Plough Holbeach st Jonhn PE12 8RE 8:45 am.

Then calling in & meeting more bikes at Algakirk services 9:15 - sorting groups & usual brief briefing etc PE20 2LG (this is where the A17 crosses the A16) it's a 120 mile run from here

We will be making a 20 min coffe comfort stop at Colsterworth NG33 5LN on the A1/ A151/ B676 roundabout after about an hours riding & to meet anyone who wants to join here ?

From there it should be about another hour & 10min as we'll be making our way (via Melton Mowbray ) to Foxton locks where we will stop for an Hour.

Going back through Stamford via uppingham should put us at Tallington filling station after an hous run, for 30 mins Petrol & coffee (I'm Assuming everyone can do 110 miles on a tank full ?)
from there the last leg of 25 miles & 40 ish minutes (senic route) will put us at the Plough Holbeach st Johns in time for the Mid afternoon BBQ & festivities.

Please post up attendance as there are a number of other groups involved as well & we need numbers for catering & to plan ride out group leaders etc.

Everyone welcome - Very Happy

Joined at the hip Smile don't wanna get lost now do I Wink .

Seriously though, it'll be Algarkirk, otherwise my start time from home would be before going to bed the night before Shocked Very Happy .

BTW, there is a possibility that a friend (yes I do have some) might tag along with a pillion. He's as easy to get a decision out of as getting a firm grip on fog though.
Will there be a fudge factor for food for last minuters and obviously pay on the day ?

In the mean time I'll try nail him down as to whether he's coming or not.

As long we have everyone down who intends to come, one or two more or less on the day won't be a problem at all.
Key thing is we know who we are expecting to collect & from where, so we don't miss anyone. Very Happy

Looking forward to this if it's dry. I've been down where the A16 meets the A17, but not ridden the roads planned for the ride.
