Hello to All

I was a Kawasaki owner for many years so I'm new to the YZF family. Just bought a black/silver 2004. Not many mods yet. I got it for an excellent price with less than 6000 miles on it so it was hard to pass up. I look forward to reading the posts on this site. Beyond the stupid questions that I'm sure I will ask I probably won't have very much input since I'm not as familiar with Yamaha as I am with Kawasaki.

I'm sure you'll find many a friendly welcome here  

You may find many of the answers to the questions you have in the workshop area of the site, but if not post up in the senate or under the relevant heading in workshops (i.e. Brakes etc. etc.)
Many things are bike generic, so common to us all no matter what badge we ride.

Remember, the only stupid question is the one you didn't ask, costing you mucho dinero because something expensive broke for the price, and sake of a 10 pence  replacement widget. All because you didn't ask what it is, what it dose and how to replace it.

How did you find us? We should be able to answer any questions you have. so ask away. And we won't hold it against you just because you've been a Kwak owner. We'd upset a lot of members if we did that!  

Most folk on here have owned a 'cat at some point but many have moved on to other bikes. We just hang around here 'cos it's good fun  

Hope you enjoy perusing the site. There's a ride out on this weekend so things may be a bit quite on here at the minute, but you'll soon get to know the characters on here.

Post up a pic of the bike, and yourself, if you can. We like pictures!

Always nice to have someone new join in and find a nice tidy cat.
Everyone's always very helpful and no question is really stupid, the rideouts are great. This weekends is te last calendar official one of the year but we have other ones going on in local areas to.

You might already know that all years are the same, so don't let that put you off when reading through the workshop. There are some subtle differences between the US and European models, but think that's mainly in the lighting.

There is a 'local' USA site (link near the top of the page) which has lots of good info on it too.
We'll do our very best to help you where we can.  The usa site might have more relevant "places to buy bits" info on it though.

If you can make one of our UK or European ride-outs that would be great though - they are legendary

Naaaaah . . . . just gave us all a chuckle that's all (after all he could have been USAF personnel serving in UK, who comes from pittsburgh)

Hi and welcome to the forum, as you'll see from Mr Nutts post geography isn't his strong point but he makes up for it with enthusiasm, as others said ask away, we like questions and pictures, yeah pictures, we like pictures too.

The previous owner laid the bike down pretty hard so the left side is nothing to look at. I just put it in the shop to get the carbs tuned. He also jetted it but there is a hesitation at low RPM so I wanted a pro to check it out. Anyway, I will be ordering new plastic soon so I will post some pics when i finish it up. thanks again
