Hi all,

Just a quick hello.

I'm now the proud owner of the 03 Thundarcat Julie from Chesterfield was selling.

it is brilliant condition as you'd expect from an 03 with just 1320 miles on her. The first job is to strip the carbs and clean as I recon the pilot jets are blocked with being sat for so long. I've just done the same with a fazer and she now runs a treat.

I'm not new to biking having raced sidecars for years with mainly yams in including tz350, thundercat, carbed and injected r6. I only recently passed my test and I've just sold the sidecar for a bit of a lay off and bought various road bikes and an SV650 to race.

the thundercat should be a great bike for me for a long time to come.

hope to meet some of you at some point.

cheers

john

Hi & Welcome.

Wow that must a record low # of miles on a Thundercat. Average of about 130 a year.
Is it a record worth having though???

Trust you'll be wanting to add a few.

Enjoy

Cheers

thank you all for your welcome.Cool

She really is a smart example.
I'm off up the west coast of Scotland on her this weekend so will probably double the miles on the clock.
I've done the carbs and she runs a treat now. the only thing left to do is decide whether to swap the tyres. they are the original tyres and like new but the rubber is rock hard? Any thoughts?

cheers

Michelin PilotRoad 3's for me Smile
Weirdest looking tyre in the world and not the cheapest but worth the dough IMHO.

A great choice.
Have you been before?
How far North are you going?
Applecross & Torridon (up into the hills) are well worth a visit if the weather is nice and you are travelling that far.

Oooh . . . you've gone and done it now pmsl The tyre debate rofl

If it were me ? I would be inclined to change the tyres purely for my own peace of mind. But it's your personal choice wink thumb up

Favourites seem to be :

Pilot Road 3's
Maxxis Roadsmart
I like the Avon Storm 2's

But it's horses for courses Don\'t Know  green smile

Cheers left thumb up

right, I am now officially in love with my thundercat.

I got back last night from a 1000 mile trip up the west coast of Scotland and I loved every minute of it. Apart from Scotland being an amazing place to go for a ride the bike was brilliant.

I took all the advise and fitted a pair of road pilot 2's. These give a massive amount of grip and are great in the wet also.

I also, used a projection components jack up kit as the bike had been lowered. this was easy to fit and the handling was spot on.

the only other couple of changes I'm going to make are a loader end can for fun and drop a tooth on the front sprocket as a bit more acceleration would be more use over the high top speed that can't be used.

Can't see why anyone would want anything other than a thundercat Cool Very Happy Laughing

My sentiments exactly. Glad you enjoyed it John.
I was in Oban at the weekend on a boys weekend away mountain biking, golf, fishing and a wee tour of the distillery complete with a few measures of whisky Smile

Did you manage to avoid the torrential rain?
