cat and fiddle

Post  prime on Wed Jul 10 2013, 19:33

well I went back to buxton via snake pass and winnats and did the cat and fiddle for the first time. three times. I like it from the pub and down towards macc, the first bit was full of gravel and slippy but when I got in the flow I enjoyed it. had few good stretches where I waited as long as I could until a car came behind me so that I had an open road. the 50mph average is naff but hey ho. I got in a few good corners, sure my knee was only 12inches off the ground!

Hey Prime, is that the stretch that's 12 miles long with nasty drops on every hairpin.

If it is, i've done it in the car and it was amazing, would love to do it on the bike one day Very Happy

I believe its the A537, sometimes there's a guy in a policeman's uniform hiding behind the last crest before Buxton centre with a speed detector. Didn't catch me tho lol

There's  50 mph average speed cameras on the cat and fiddle but its worth a pootle for a hot chocolate at the pub.

Most Derbyshire roads are 50 mph and heavily policed.

The road down into Macclesfield is my favourite side too.
