Old Faithful? Empty Old Faithful?

Post  Wooster Sun Apr 07 2013, 18:12

Parked the bike up on August the 12th last year, disconnected the positive battery terminal a couple of weeks later since the weather was getting poor and workload was getting heavy.

Connected the battery up today, opened the choke, turned it over a dozen times.....

....and it started no problem. left thumb up
A short blast to clean out the carbs and it's running like a wee sweetie again.
If only it wasn't so damn cold. old

Result......I've just started putting mine back together.
Apart from the scaffolding blocking my exit from the garage I'm relatively confident I'll make Wee Mac on Friday Smile

You gonna join us for some of it Alan?

Cheers

Is that due already? Time flies, doesn't it? Shocked (Although, if I recall there was some issues with icy bikes last year and I nearly dropped mine on some on the pass between the Tulla and Megget reservoirs green smile )
pm me the route and I'll see if I can hook up with you all on the Saturday again. left thumb up

If you can't get the bike out of the garage, you could always dismantle it and take it past the scaffolding in bits before putting it back together again. Laughing
(If you have any major problems with it, give me a bell (I have the same number) during the week and you can borrow mine for the weekend. Cool )

I had to ride mine a few elks weeks ago after months of standing; it hadn't even had the battery disconnected but it fired up ok. It took a mile or so to start running cleanly but after that was cock-on. Then yesterday I went out for the first proper ride of the season and it was perfect; beautiful fuelling, nice sharp brakes, snick-snick gearbox... what a machine.

I managed about ten miles, but the snotters were tripping me as I didn't get fully kitted up, thinking it probably wouldn't start.

Thanks for your kind offer Allan. Hopefully I won't need to take you up on it. I've already had an offer from another kind soul.
At this rate I could 'sell' or donate to Terry's Lees bonfire my bike and just "pay per ride".

I kinda like the sound of that Smile

Treated myself to a new oil filter today so just need to clear some space in the garage. Find my bike and put it back together.

Saturday's run gets within 5 miles of Wishaw in the afternoon.
I'll get the map to you.
