Hi everyone,

Thought I would post some pics of my bike before I start molesting it too much any input/suggestions are welcome Leeds T'Cat - few pics 4292312990

Side shot with standard levers still on, I have added rim tape - i know that will probably split opinions...

Below: New full-length blue levers, here you can see the carbon look mirrors from the previous owner more closely which i think look pretty cheap so they will be gone soon

Below: Almost lost my exhaust after riding from leeds to Middleton in Manchester...Came off the slip road and heard a tinny sound when leaning right but not left...ended up being my can grazing the road as I went around a roundabout! quick fix with a shoe lace until I found a replacement bolt in my mate's garage

That's it for now

More pics will follow once I have made a few more changes/additions as and when payday allows...

Nice pics mate, I'm afraid I'm on the anti rim tape side of the fence, it's not a criticism just not something I like. My new bike came with rim tape and my first job will be to remove it.

Bike looks stunning though, really nice and clean looking, and Rochdale and Middleton!! Much closer you'll be on my street Wink

Happy riding an hope to meet up soon

Very nice, ouch about the exhaust scraping.

I too am in the no rim tape camp, mine has it and was about to come off but I caught a glimpse of its reflective qualities - so it stayed as a safety device.

That's definitely not a stubby exhaust in the picture.....still - it could have been worse it could have thrown you off.

I like the rim tape - had to say that as I've got it on mine.

Cheers
Rosco.

Nice looking 'Cat there. I quite like the rim tape. However, personal taste of course, not a fan of the blue levers. Lucky on the exhaust.

Leeds T'Cat - few pics Empty Keeping it in the family...

Post  'Cat-Man-Do Thu Nov 15 2012, 00:28

So as I said I was looking to buy a seat cowl, ended up getting one off ebay....the seller dropped it off with my missus yesterday and turns out it was ''Wowey'' off the forum (small world)

Anyways it only had one clip so today I got around to fixing it using some plumbing supplies, glue, an empty butter tub, a toilet roll tube, some sticky back plastic, some old buttons, paper mache' and a cereal box...

Below: remaining old clip

Mine went on with two sided tape initially. Get the position right. The surrounded with two part epoxy. Better than super glue in this situation methinks.

Very Happy

Leeds T'Cat - few pics Empty 12v charging socket added

Post  'Cat-Man-Do Mon Dec 17 2012, 02:23

Hi everybody,

Got around to installing a lighter socket to my cat earlier tonight
Little bit fiddly (mostly because the dash needs removing). Also included a switch so as not to drain my battery and bought a USB adapter to charge my iphone
Happy with the result and now keeping an eye out for a quality sat nav mount to compliment it.
See pics below

Neat job on the accessory socket. On the rim tape, I am in the it-depends camp; the right colour tape on the right colour bike is good, but random colours can be naff. As you can see --->, I have it!

Also, a question if I may..... what is the intended purpose of those brake fluid reservoir covers? I see them on race bikes and some old bikes and wonder exactly what they are supposed to be doing?

I fitted one on mine in the same place as you and the problem I had was with vibration making the plugs come out. A little bit of insulation tape around the head of the plug gave a firmer fit and prevented it from happening again. Hope that may help you.

Not sure about the sweatband thing Weasley, some people say its to prevent any brake fluid leaking out and ruining your paintwork... I removed mine coz they soon look weather worn and naff and it defeated the point of me putting a nice shiny blue Yamaha cap on my bike...might as well stick a smelly old sock on there!

Thanks John, but I had some trouble getting the switch and socket into their respective holes (vvvvery snug) they won't be coming loose anytime soon! wink thumb up

ok, might be a silly question but did you have to drill holes to fit both of those or are there holes there already for this mod ? I would have a look on my bike to try and answer my own question but its still stuck in Southend till the 29th (weather permitting) so cant look...

Had to drill the holes myself, quite tricky unless you have 3/4 inch and 1inch diameter drill attachments (which I don't)....
