Thundercat engine for spares or repair Empty Thundercat engine for spares or repair

Hi Guys, I hope you don't mind me posting this as my first post but theres no better place to advertise this then on a Thundercat forum! Unfotunatly I don't own a cat but I am a Yamaha man, running a TDM and a 350 LC at the moment but have had plenty others (98 R1, TRX's plenty of YPVS's) Unfotunatly I can't see me posting on here much but this may be of interst to some of the members?!?

I have a thundercat lump I took in payment for putting a new one in. Complete except the starter. It's suffered the dreaded 2nd gear problem so that needs sorting or stripped for spares. Came out of a 98 22k bike, runs perfectly fine no knocks or smoke, just the gearbox issue. The guy had the problem shifted through 2nd and got it home and we put a second hand lump in as he needed the bike to commute on. Has the cases, stator and rotor there, as mentioned crank, bores, head etc are good.

£100 collected from Wolverhampton/Willenhall West Midlands or will pallet up if you want to send a courier.

Cheers

Tom

Hi!

Do you have to sell the alternator cover on the right side? The thing that is coming out of the right fairing and says yamaha.

Just to help clarify, your alternator is on the left side of your engine, the clutch cover is on the right. See discussion on here if you want proof: [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]

Now I'm off to read about this legendary 2nd gear problem I'm not familair with.

Yeah, sorry. I meant left side. So do you have for sell the generator cover. the one on the right foot that says yamaha.

I have a minor crack on it, starting from the bolt. About 2 cm. Is it serious? Should I replace it ASAP?

Thanks.

RIGHT side = clutch cover and starter
LEFT side = generator/alternator cover.

If you look at the link I posted there's evidence and the guy breaking the cat there might still have the clutch cover if that's the bit you require.

I got it wrong again. I think we both need the same part. It's the generator cover that I need, on the left side, same side as gears under the left foot.

But I misunderstood that you are selling the parts. Sorry.

Nice cat!! What year is it? Mileage? Any tips on long time storage?
