Hi & welcome roo. Things to look for are rotted exhaust manifold, rusted swingarm & check the engine & chassis numbers are correct on the log book. Service history would be a plus but not essential if a diy mechanic has changed the oil at least. Generally see how it runs & sounds. If you do ride it check the gear change from 1st to 2nd it will be notchy but check it does not bang or grind. Paul.

Hi paul thanks for the information, Ill keep an eye out for those things, the one I'm going to look at is a 98 plate with 23k on the clock, Its garaged and used only in the summer (aparently) so hopefully won't be showing much signs of rust. I will most certainy be trying to have a test ride so Ill test out 1/2nd year allot more now you've mentioned that.

also I've been looking allot at acessories for the cats, the seat cowl? are they easy enough to get hold of?

Thanks
Reu

Hello & Welcome to the Forum Reu (in danger of picking up the nick of Kanga ~ bet you've never heard that huh Rolling Eyes )

The site is littered with usefull hints, tips and info for you to search out and read. But if you cant find stuff post up in the lounge or relevant topic and someone will either answer or point you in the right direction.

With the second gear thingy ~ get the bike into second gear, then roll off the throttle, then, (and be bloody careful here), snap the throttle open again and hold it (hang on!!!). If you haven't got your licence or your not confident, get a mate to do this for you !!!
If the bike pops out of gear, this could possibly indicate a problem within the gearbox. You should seriously think of walking away or quite literally nocking a grand off the price of the bike, as that's roughly what it'll cost to put right.
It isn't a common problem, (as some may have you believe), but it is out there with some 'cats'.
In fact, in the 10 years of this site running, we've only had two occurrences and heard of two more. Stretchy can give you the details.

For after market accessories like seat cowls and the like, ~ ebay seems to have a fair amount of stuff ~ powerbronze & skidmarx did them too I believe.

Good luck with yer DAS and good hunting for your thundercat
