help the heroes ride at wootton basset

guys & gals just picked this thread up from the 2 wheels site
on the 14th march there is going to be a bike ride for help the heroes though wooden basset to the RAF station at lyneham with all funds going to the help the heroes it will cost £5 for the wristband which will allow entry to the RAF station the meeting place for the start of the ride is jun17 M4 eastbound at leigh delamere for anyone wanting to go i will be going its a sunday

Elizabeth Stevens, We have had it confirmed that RAF Lyneham cannot cope with the numbers now that have shown their support. They still fully support the ride. We are looking at several bases at present and when things are confirmed I will let you know. really

As I mentioned it's my birfday on Sunday, anyone up to organising a 'decent bash' Saturday night?


Will be there as marshals on the day.

Am a Wiltshire local (or is that "yokel") at weekends so am definitely going to this - not sure if I'm going "with" anyone in particular except the GF and her uncle, but might hook up with youse lot just for a bit of banter. If not, keep an eye out for me and give me a poke if you see me

Also in the Travel Lodge, had to pay the price of procrastination though - room prices have shot up

when i signed up for the ride number 1254 booked the travel lodge at the same time wonder what i,d get it for on the good old feabay now

if half the discussion threads are to be believed pete not much! I am however beginning to wonder how big this travel lodge is as there seems to be an awful lot of people staying in it!!!!!

I was going to this, 4 fantasic years I spent I lyneham, however, I'm working now, not impressed

Yeah, well, if its any consolation andy it seems to be turning a bit farcical - don't know where we are going from and to but we know where we're not ending up ..... and that's Lyneham!!!

which in turn just might get this ride out rally pulled by the authorities

I heard the local authorities were having another meeting about it today, I reckon it's gonna be a victim of it's own success! Shame really!

what i hadn't realised was, when you read one of the discussion threads, apparently they knew from the outset they couldn't have more than 2000 for Lyneham so why didn't they just keep the registration open until 2000 had signed up? I really don't know how they are going to manage to take £5 from 10000 people on the day or how they will know if those ones had actually registered in the first place?? I'd have thought as people have registered and they're apparently going to use the list of those that have registered on the day - it would be easier to ask for them to pay the fiver in advance and send them out - how do they know if turned up before Pete that i wasn't him!! (Well, would be no point in me pretending to be him a) i'm nicer looking b) so is my bike and c) he's likely to be in front of me in the queue!!) But when you read the Afghan Heroes site it says about them doing the first come first served 10000 bikes on the day using the list of those that have already registered but i just don't see how they can stop others turning up or have the time to consult their list!!!!!
